2009 GSA width? - Will it fit?

At the moment I have a 2007 R1200RT which I am very happy with.
I want to buy a 2009 GSA that I have seen, but I need to know if I can fit it through the side entrance at my house first.
The narrowest point at my side entrance is 960 millimeters wide.
Will this be wide enough to fit the bike through?
I would have the side panniers removed.
What is the widest point of the bike, is it the mirrors or the handlebars?
If it is the mirrors, can they be folded in?

Think hand guards are smidgen wider than the mirrors ( which could fold back).
And 990mm is what mine measures. Or give or take a few mm.

2009 is identical. Mirrors will turn forward if you had to but it would be a pain as they are bound to move position. Maybe different mirrors or better still narrower bars if you can find some. It's all a bit tight and bound to end it tears at some point.

My 960 mm might be a bit too tight unfortunately, which would mean that I can't buy myself a GSA unfortunately..

Bars and mirrors must be an option from somewhere. I never tried but maybe some repositioning and cutting can be done to the originals.

You could get some renthals and cut them down a bit so they fit your back passage

Get some threaded inserts off ebay for your bar end bolts

With the narrower bars, the mirrors would then be narrower by default....

What is the gap your trying to go through? is it a wall either side or a gate / fence?

Just because the bars are a bit wider than the gate doesn't mean the bike won't go through. Can you wriggle a 990 bar through or is it a narrow alleyway you have to negotiate? Don't give up yet.

Agreed. If the wall to fence gap is 960 it will be tough but if it is just a gate then no problems to wriggle through

In my old house I could easily get the XJ900 though a narrow passageway. The GSA bars were fine but the cylinders stuck out too far. Getting that extracted was fun to say the least. At least it couldn't fall over.
