Out on my 2009 GSA 1200 , that's done 31k
As I'm riding along engine cuts out
Roadside checks show half a tank of
Petrol, no blown fuses, plenty of juice
In battery, turns over, won't start,
But I noticed when I turn the ignition key
I use to hear the fuel pump buzz to
Pressure the fuel lines before starting
It's not doing this anymore
Anyone had a similar experience?
Was it the fuel pump
I don't have access to a 911 OBD
(Unless someone near Bedford has one and
I'll pay you to plug it in!)

Open to suggestions please

You shouldn't have any fuses to blow. Search for old threads about fuel pump controllers. They used to be notorious for failing.

Yup 2nd that fuel pump controller, my 08 mu gsa did exactly the same. Took a while for it to completely give in (around 10k miles) but it did. Very random, appears to happen when hot then fine then once dangerously whole electronics went off whilst merging onto slip road to motorway, extremely dangerous as we were in Spain 2 up with a line of traffic getting up to speed behind us.

Thanks I'm going to make up a bypass
wire and test the fuel pump
If it starts must be the controller

If I remember correctly when the ring antenna on the ex missus's GSA went it would turn over but wouldn't fire up. Probably not that though if you can't hear the fuel pump priming.
Just had to replace the fuel pump and the fuel pump controller on mine. But at least mine lasted 107,000 miles. You could try Ian at bike works in grendon. Not too far away for you. He sorted mine out as I could do a proper diagnostic test to reset some stuff myself.

Had the same happen on my 2007, 80k. I expected it to be FPC but that was OK, after a bit of checking with a multimeter I found no output from ECU. A makeshift supply was made using a relay, ignition fed from the front sidelamp and it started. I did not think it was viable to change ECU and associated programming in view of the bikes age and condition so it was sold (buyer informed of the issue).

Diagnostic lead comes up trumps

Tested with home made lead
Fuel pump buzzed, engine started
Fuel Controller!!

Yeah..that’s a result. although I’ve been here 12 years I still dream of the day when im invited by the boss to pull the anchor and scrub decks.
But I’ll patiently wait my turn
