I almost always 'blip' the throttle on downchanges when slowing down for junctions, roundabouts etc.

I have noticed that the engine does not always like responding to really fast 'blips' - sometimes it won't 'spin up' quite as easily as my 05 1200GS did. It hasn't yet stalled when doing this but feels like it might. If I 'blip' less rapidly it seems fine.

The only other bike that I have ridden that did this, but much, much worse, was an Aprillia 1000RSV Factory which stalled every bloody time!

Anyone else noticed it?

Some motors respond well to a constant throttle down change, (clutch in, constant revs, take a couple of gears, clutch out) then throttle off and allow the engine to bring the speed down. Not so good in the lower gears but works well at speed in the higher gears. :thumb

I only noticed 3 things.... 2010 -v- 2005

The exhaust note at tickover and low revs is louder than my 05 (with a gutted can).

The traction control has 2 settings. With it completely OFF, the bike slides the back end off road easier.

It also wheelies MUCH easier and better.

It still has horrible vibes, although the bike I road had only done 600m :blast

yep it farts for me rather than picking up like a sewing machine. Thought this would have improved when i got the cam timing reset after my stalling problem but its still the same, though he stalling has gone. Occasionally it blips smoothly and I am thinking I need to work on optimisimg the ammount and speed of opening the throttle, plus running in time.

Yep, and it HAS stalled on me once :(

YES! I noticed precisely that, thought it was me. I swapped my '09 for a '10 on Tuesday. I've only done 23 miles on it so far, perhaps they're better when they loosen up,I certainly don't recall noticing it on the 2hr test ride I took on the demo bike with 1600 miles on it.:nenau

Glad it is not just me!!!!! Maybe it is just a characteristic of how the new engine is tuned - dunno - it's not a big deal, jut a noticeable difference.

I do love the great big extra 'gob' of low speed torque that the 2010 bike has got compared to my 2005 model :)

I seem to remember my '07 having that kind of problem. It's got better and now it's just about run in, at 30,000 miles, it blips very nicely.

YMMV...

The more I think about it,the more I'm sure that the demo bike did'nt do it so I'm certain they'll loosen up nicely.
One thing I can be sure of though, the demo bike will have been mercilessly thrashed.
Not by me of course. :augie

Probably just needs some miles on it. Unless your a monster mile person the engine is probably still pretty tight. FWIW my 09 still doesnt pick up very well with a blip especially at lower revs but with nearly 6000 on it now its getting better all the time.

Some dealers have got the camshaft adjustment tool kit at their dealerships. Get your dealer to check the cam sensor timing on the right hand pot. There can be a discrepensy of up to 4 degrees which can cause the fault you described.

As mentioned above and in thread

I had this done at 300 miles after a problem of occasional stalling when changing down which it cured.

it hasn't affected the blipping problem though.
