2010-2012 GS issues

Had my 2010 bike for 8 months definatley prefer it to the 07 I had, Ive done just short of 10k on it and so far so good. :beerjug:

2011 GS, 23k miles, zero issues, ridden daily, ACF'd but rarely cleaned. Uses about 500ml of oil between services. Probably about as good as the air cooled boxer is going to get. Best bike I've owned.:thumb

Hi Pablo
Might be taking thread off course a bit I know but was offerred £289 all in for the 6k service including the annual stuff( final drive and brake fluid change) which I wont hit till next june...so didnt want to visit twice in 6 months.Dont think I will be racking up another 6k in 2013, as this yrs euro trip probably only 2k miles. Last yr was over 3k in 12 days.£300 is 5p per mile alone just for servicing....:tears

I would appreciate any other price comments on the 6k service.
thanks

GSA registered March 2011, over 11,000 miles, only issue was last month when the rear wheel sensor failed and this affected the ABS, Speedo & odometer, all covered by warrantee.

Booked in for 2 year, 12k service at Riders Cardiff next month for £310.00.

Love the bike...........

2010 GSA, 35,000miles problems so far.

Glad I renewed warranty and will again next year.

P.S. Don't let the above put you off its the best bike I've owned in the last 30 years..

How much does it cost for the extended warranty ?
Does BMW get in touch when the original warranty is about to expire ?

:flag

Bmw will send out letter before its 2 year old. There are 3 different excess. I took the zero excess for £280. Not needed it so far but good peace of mind and includes recovery from Europe. Pays yer money and takes yer chance. Or not!:nenau

2010 GSA 13000 miles, cam sensor changed within a month of new
both front damper seals leaked within the first 6 months
rear suspension leaked oil and needed to be replaced
mudslinger incorrectly fitted by maindealer resulting in a BMW callout in Germany
umteen problems with the fuel sensor, still to be resolved
seat as comfortable as a brick
total bastard to keep clean
Wouldnt change it tho.

id be worried if I brought a kid up witout any issues whatsoever. Issues create a character.

2010 GSA, 10000 miles, faulty fuel gauge sorted under warranty.

Love it and WILL have another! :D:D:D:D

My 2010 is up to 14k miles and so far the only problem has been a sticky exhaust widget replaced under warranty.

Only thing to go wrong !!!!!!

Ok I will start by saying that i love the boxer engine and currently own two both 1100 a GS and RT. The GS has covered 63000 miles and the RT 30000, zero problems.

I will be in the market this year for a new mount I also have a ZZR1400 that I rarely use and fancy a newer adventure bike. now my default bike of choice should be the BMW however I cannot get my head around these sort of threads where people post about low mileage bikes that have only had this or that go wrong but it is all right because its still under guarantee !!

I am going to have test rides on all of the current offerings however I probably already know which bike I will prefer to ride. Which one will I buy well that will be a more complicated decision, it will probably be a heart verse head thing which for me is a terrible shame.

Heart did it for me, I managed to source a brand new fully loaded GS just before Christmas. I plan to ride it every day and will have 3 yrs before I have to worry about funding the replacing of ESA shocks, flapper valve, fuel tank sender, final drive etc.
Hopefully this one turns in to a keeper :thumb2 :thumb2

2010 Twin Cam 22k on the clock, Alternator has just seized breaking the belt and killing the battery. Ive only done 300 miles on it............but i will be keeping it or chopping it in maybe for a TB. :D
