Before the new stand rusts just like the old one why not have it powder coated? There's also paint protection film as used on car bonnets and rear wheel arches.

Because it's under warranty.
Why should I go through the hassle/ expense of taking it off, paying for it to be powder coated, then putting it back on!

That was self evident but the paint is clearly not up to the task so the new one will soon be stuffed as well. I guess BMW can fit yet another one.

So long as it's under warranty I'll keep taking it back to BMW to be replaced FOC, but if I were to have this bike out of warranty, I'd certainly get it powdercoated.
Hopefully someone from BMW is reading these posts, and can authorise a bit more paint to be put on at the factory.
