2010 30th Anniversary GSA, only 600 miles and not the best start. I've already run out of petrol on the motorway due to the fuel sender giving me incorrect info. Just had it's first service so I've had to have the fuel sender re-calibrated. They were originally going to replace it under warranty, but when they looked at it, they said the resistance was correct so they just re-calibrated it. I'm yet to see if it has worked. :(

I'm also still waiting for the free boxes. :(

Starter motors!

Have done 24,000km since 1 May 2010 and am currently having the third starter motor fitted in Adelaide, Australia. Also failed temperature sensor.

Chester f##ked me around on boxes when i bought mine, told me there was none in uk,BMW told me there was 190 pairs ready for dispatch, don't know why they lied to me?,had to take a print out of email from BMW in to shop and cause hell to get them,I'll not be buying next years bike from them, when i've bought harleys from them its always been a joy:thumb

Battery woes.

2010 model under 300 miles on the clock, rolled it out of the garage this morning to go to work ( fully kitted in gortex, helmet, gloves etc). Pushed the starter, click, but wouldn't start.

The bike had sat in a warm garage for 8 days whilst I was on holiday and now the (new) battery was flat.

Not happy!!

sadly my bike is real poorly.......a valve decided to part company where it should of been and throw itself into the piston...need lefthand side of engine replacing......not happy at all:( good news is that bmw are helping with the cost...on my 56 1200 with 19000 on the clock....just glad it didn't chuck me off when it happened......

Thanks for the info on that, I'll be speaking to BMW first thing in the morning to see what they say about stock levels of the boxes. If it turns out they are in stock, I'll be straight down to Chester to find out what's going on. Information is power. :)

On a good note though the fuel sender seems to be working now. I've just been for a ride and the light came on with 33miles left on the range computer. I reset the trip and kept riding it for another 26 miles. I filled up with 8 miles left on the range comp and it took 32.4 litres so I think that sounds about right.

30th Anniversary 620 miles........sweet, no problems at all

I've had 1x1100, 2x 1150, 1x 1200 (2008) but this one (IMO) is by far the best.

From Williams ........ boxes included:augie

Hi, Only got it on Saturday but on Sunday I noticed oil leak from left side fork seal. I will have it fixed on the 600mile service Thursday.
Otherwise very pleased, loads of grunt down low compared to my excellent GS12 05 which I traded.

:D wicked machine.

gs 1200 2010

had no problems.. Have noticed that no oil needed until 1800miles, then filled up with 220ml. Drove 300 miles in 2 weeks (not a lot at all) and needed another 220ml. Spoke to BMW and its within their acceptable limit not to worry. Will monitor again and see that it does. Hopefully it reduces in coming miles, else it'll be a user..

Cam sensor fault,2 miles from new.Fixed, now up to 4,600 since April 1st No problems, great bike.:)

March 2010, 3900miles, no issues whatsoever, great bike, used no oil between services.:)

Have only done about 800 miles from new, but need to put in aprox .6 bar in to rear tyre every two days. BUT NO PUNCTURE, BIN DOING FROM NEW.:(

At 1200km bike did cut out once.

Added oil once at 2500km but after a 10 hour day including offroad.

Bike does run rough.

Signs of cam sensor?

Lads...is the cutting out a sign for the cam sensor?

What actually is the mechanics to this and how is the new/replacement cam sensor different or improved in performance and spec/

Cheers

March 2010 and now 9000 miles with ZERO issues.

Mine did this last night - been in the garage unused for only 4 days! I normally use it almost everyday.

Kitted up - pushed bike out of garage - switched on - exhaust flap thingy clicked and whirred - checks complete ok - press starter - 'click click click' - Arse!!!!

Hmmmm I thinks, no charger or jumps leads handy so called BMW Assist, specialist motorcycle agent turns up in less than 20 mins - puts 'booster pack' on bike - bike starts - checks regulator/rectifier - batt voltage when running 14.4V and hardly changes when revved - so all ok - does batt load test but not accurate cos battery not fully charged yet - he says battery may be 'weak'.

I ride around and around town for about 15 miles, put bike in garage - bike starts this morning as if nothing is wrong - go the long way round to work to get the charging mileage up to about 50 miles.

Hmmmmm - I have never had a battery go flat before, last bike did 45,000 its original battery without problems. Maybe I am just unlucky and have a dodgy battery???

Will be away for about a week starting friday - will be interesting to see if it starts when I return.

My bike is totally standard basic model 2010 1200GS, no accessories whatsoever and I am 100% sure that I didn't leave the parking lights on.

Anyone else had a dodgy 2010 battery.

Fuel level stick

Dropped my 2010 gsa in at chester today to have new "stick" fitted, bikes done 1750 miles last 300 on a wing and a prayer! (total failure on fuel gauge).
