Just wanted to check if anyone has a quick checklist of removal a 2010 GS tank? I have found threads on earlier models but none specific to the 2010 and don't know the differences (if any) on the earlier models vs. the current. Want to reroute all that Starcom cabling (is it really necessary to have all the cable) along the electrical loom underneath the tank as it is messy running it underneath the panels. Looks simple but just want to be careful when working with combustable substances . Thanks

yep ive removed tank due to having a electrical fault battery light on and not charging on a brand new bike!! fault was the log nut on top of the alternator had not been fitted correctly from new!

1-remove tank side covers and tank cover and beak
2- lower tank is fastened by a torx screw either side, remove these and the tank will pivot several inches to allow excess if you dont want to remove it, if you do read on.
4-the front of tank you will see a torx screw 1 each side only undo slightly no need to remove .
5-you will see fuel sender front left-hand side, unclip the 2 fuel pipes and unclip the 2 electrical plugs
6- lift tank up from the rear and pull away from the front tank holders.

job done:thumb2

Got the tank off. Very easy. For other people doing this the 2010 model is slightly different. Fuel supply and return are on the right hand side. Four connectors two electrical and two fuel. The fuel quick disconnects work very well just press and pull. Two T40 bolts on the side the hold the tank. Four trim screws on the top and two at the bottom. Lift. Takes about ten minutes. Dealer advised that when reconnecting you should put some lubrication on the o-ring as they can pinch when reconnecting so I just used some lube.

!!Thats strange my bike is 2010 dohc gs (not gsa) and fuel hoses are on left hand side(sitting on bike) coming out of the sender and as the electrical con are both differnent size its impossile to fit into the wrong sockets and the same as the fuel hoses one disconnected from sender the other from withing the return hose so impossible to refit wrong..

Was yours different NLC!!
