I'm after more midrange torque for the least cash!

Remus do headers for the 2010 bike @ £359, claiming....

"Fitment of the downpipes/collector is the best way to release power from your R1200GS and Adventure and will make more difference than replacing the silencer".......... plus it's a lot lighter than stock with no cat!

Has anyone fitted just the headers and is it noticeably better, or would you go the whole way and add Remus / Akra can?

The whole system is approx £800, a lot of dosh for a 8% gain, but is it worth it, is there a massive increase in midrange torque?

Or just stick to stock, there's nothing wrong with the torque, it's just nice to have a bit more?

£359 isn't too bad if the increase is there, £800 needs to be something special and justified! :nenau

No experience of 2010 model but most GS's 1200's included respond well to de-cat headers livening up the midrange nicely, changing the can does little apart from saving a little weight and adding a more fruity noise, it's worth considering adding a power commander or similar and get the fuelling set up by a specialist on a rolling road as modern engines are designed to run lean.

Put your £800 pounds towards a cheap hayabusa.

Maybe you didn't understand the question.........he's after more midrange torque not more top speed

Lets live in the real world here. Most people buy aftermarket exhaust systems cos they don't like the sound of the original ones. How many of you out there really know whats really happening to the fuelling etc of your bikes once you've parted with your dosh and got a alledgedly nicer sound than standard.
The only way you're going to find out for sure is doing back to back dyno runs ie a before and after and thats on top of what you've spent already for dyno time. Every straight through system on the market is going to do one thing for sure and thats lean the fuelling off even more than it is already as std.
A better investment would be to get the fuelling corrected by a specialist who can access the std ecu on the bike and tailor it to suit the individuals riding style.
Hey but what do I know I only fix 'em

I did , ride one and you will see.

In my opinion the 2010 model is just fine as it is, sounds good too, why meddle with it? Spend your cash on something more worthwhile. Just my tuppence worth:rob

The trouble is you soon get used to the extra torque and BHP, and then you start wanting more, it's a vicious cycle. It'd take a hell of a lot on a GS/GSA to get to the point where you couldn't handle, or wouldn't want anymore torque/bhp.

If you want a bike where the torque and BHP are more than enough to last you a lifetime I'd suggest the K5/6 Gixxer thou. Trust me those things are animals, and far more ferocious than the R1 or Blade throughout the rev range (not just a top end monster)

I'd say save yourself the £800, you'll be used to the extra torque in no time and then start questioning if the mods are still working, then forking out a grand to get even more performance

Can the exhaust butterfly be locked open like on the buells and newer harley's,for my thinking its too far down the system to work like an exup valve,it's more likely to be part of the emissions gubbins :augie
Has anyone looked into swapping a hp2 pipe onto a 2010,or any other parts to get back to the 125bhp the twin cam used to produce standard ?

Before spending the £800 have you tried the accelerator mod which gives you more juice across the range, I like what it does to mine but I would have to agree the std pipe doesn't look the best although the sound has improved no end. :D

Oops I forgot this is a BMW forum so (loads of money) so I would say get the new pipes and tell us what you think please :hide

I tested the Mk1 & 2 Accelerator mods on a 2010 GSA, but i saw no tangible improvement on the new GSA. Unlike the previous GS’s, where they give a marked improvement in performance.
