2010 gsa what petrol?

Nah, manuals are only to be consulted after you break something by doing it the 'obvious' way.

When I brought my GS new in Aug 2009 I asked my dealer (CW Dorchester)about this & was told that super unleaded whilst running in would be advisable, whatever after that. I always put in the super stuff in any case & it flies, couple of quid per tank so what. Hope this helps.

I run shell v-power in all my vehicles and never had a problem with it,in a performance bike test last year they got the same results using it on their test bike as they did by fitting a power commander on the same bike, same day, same dyno.

Jet A1

If you read the manual it suggests that the higher the octane the greater the power. This is consistent with engine management systems that can detect preignition and retard the timing when running lower octane fuels. Whether it's possible to actually notice the difference on the road other than to your wallet is open to question

Put Jet A1 in it then,fcuk me it'll go like a ZZR1400 on acid.....:beerjug:

Good lad keeping me in work.................

Oh FFS!! If every one read their hand books on this site maybe we wouldn't have so many posts regarding what oil should I use or what petrol should I use.

Well, I am glad to see so many positive responses?
In future maybe I shouldn,t ask for advice from the learned men and women on this site.

It appears that a large number just want to carp and take the p***

People should either read and reply accordingly or not bother posting.

So much for friendly advice, I wish I had been born such a smart arse.

Standing back and awaiting responses

Thor,

My last bike, a Varadero, definitely seemed to run smoother on super unleaded.

I haven't yet picked up my 2010 GSA but stopped by the dealers tonight and picked up the manual for a little light reading and was surprised to note that it recommends 98 RON fuel. To the best of my knowledge only 97 RON is available in Northern Ireland, but I may be wrong, and stand to be corrected.

On the basis of the recommendation in the manual, I'm going to stick with super unleaded of one brand or another.

Regards,
Phil.

Yep unfortunately you do get a lot of piss taking on this site, I've had my fair share. I just choose to take it as friendly banter rather than get offended :thumb2

well what a nice bunch of replies to a simple question, the instruction book does not give you owners advice when bike is a few years old and what feels like to ride other fuels, or long term affects!

Why bother posting such utter pointless replys as 'FFS'? and 'read the book'? Morons...

Anywho... i've wondered the same, as i have noticed a difference in premium fuels used in the car, smoother idle, slightly more go at high rpm and very slight increase in mpg (although does not balance out the higher cost) However reading through some slightly more helpful threads, its

Been meaning to try it, but not done so yet. But fuel does make a difference, i filled up at a random independent fuel station in wales, i'm sure fuel was watered down or something, bike ran like sack of sh!t, very rough, no power. Put standard BP fuel in after that tank had gone, felt like different bike, much smoother all over rev range and power was up!

Thor, drop some of the premium stuff in, sod the morons, i'd be interested to know your thoughts :thumb2

Good here in it!! :augie

Ask a reasonable question ...get mugged

Its a bee m put anything that burns in it

If i owned a petrol station i would fill all the tanks with some low grade shite from Kazakstan, then put different pumps in saying 95 ron , 98 ron , super duper turbo petrol mega stuff for BM riders and laff at all the folks puting the so called better quality shite in and paying more for it ..oh how i would smile....

Mmmmm perhaps that what really does happen .............got ya thinking now eh ???:augie
