Bought off here just over 10 years ago. I couldn’t afford a GS at the time.
2010 Honda Varadero XL1000.
Serviced and Mot'ed last Month
Full matching Varadero panniers and top box.
Baglux tank cover and tank bag.
MRA screen, best screen I have ever had for reducing buffering. Better than my old 1200GS
Full crash bars. They work, dropped it in Ireland, pulled into a car park and my foot slipped on gravel. Nothing broken. Other than pride and scratched bars
Owned by me for the last 10 years.
I am the 5th owner.
Part service history. Mainly because paperwork has been lost. I am trying to find what I can stored in boxes, but basically, serviced every year, except covid, when it wasn’t possible.
2 keys for the Bike. About 6 for the panniers.
ABS Hiss immobiliser
Datatool Alarm
Oxford heated handlebar grips.
Things that have been done in my ownership and that I can remember.
I had never heard of these before I bought it, and still find it funny when people ask me what I ride and I tell them…. Followed by, you have no idea what that is, do you? And generally, they have no idea, which is great, if you like to be a bit different.
I have taken this bike all over England, Ireland and Wales. Also to Spain and France a number of times. In fact, I am off to France in September and was going to take it over again, but decided that as I had the money, it is time for a newer bike as I fancy a change and if I can keep that for 10 years as well, then, I will be looking to downsize after that.
The bike has mainly been used for weekends away, couple of hundred miles each trip, occasion commutes to work, 25 miles each way, and long week away trips.
If a big bike has been mechanically looked after, there is no reason that it shouldn’t go past 100,000 miles. Just mention that as the bike is sat at about 52,000 miles.
Bad bits,
I never liked the colour.
The bike is 15 years old and whilst well maintained, it has some scratches on one of the panniers, there is some general corrosion. Please look at the pictures for detail.
( I will put pictures up Monday evening when I have a chance to get out with the camera.)
Not sure if the wired in power for the carpuride has a fault, but it comes on intermittently or if there is an issue with a loose wire. (Suspect a loose wire). I will try to get it looked at, But, the work around is I have a separate power source that goes straight into the usb connector and it fires straight up.
Think that is it. If I think of anything else, I will update the details.

- 2 new radiators about 4/5 years ago. Discovered about 3 weeks before I was due to go to Spain. That caused me to sweat a bit.
- Hiviz led rear fog light, last year. So cars can actually see you when the rain is hoofing it down and don’t run up your ass.
- Wired in led front fog lights last year to give the triangle view so cars are more likely to see you. Nb, the led lights are not great, they work, but I would recommend changing them at some point. The main thing is the wiring is in place so easy to replace.
- Denali sound bomb. Last year. The horn went from meep meep to BAAAAAAAA. You definitely get noticed.
- New chain and sprockets, this year
- New Hagon Shock fitted this year
- New Brake pads fitted this year
- New battery this year.
- Mudguard extender fitted to the front wheel, to reduce crud getting on the engine.
- Car Puride screen. This is so you can sync your phone to the screen for navigation, control music, etc.
- Had the accessory wiring under the seat redone when it went in for a service this year. It wasn’t looking great and I would rather be safe than sorry.
