After a dam good thrash about yesterday, bike was parked up over night, ignition off key out and bike put away, this morning it did not want to start, it tried to turn over but behaved like a flat battery. Also if engine is hot it finds it hard to start. Any ideas, im thinking starter motor, as i put it into gear and bumped it over, it then started....

There are many cases of the battery dying on GS's. They can fail overnight or steadily get worse. Ideally try swapping it for a known good one and see if it makes a difference. Check the connections to it are tight also

Dont think its the battery, as i put it into gear and bumped it over, then it started on the key. Im wondering if the starter is more likely the cause, as it struggles sometimes when hot.
Ah well warrenty here i come.

Check the simple things first, like loose battery terminals/starter motor terminals/starter relay wiring.

I'd come over and help, but I've lent my GS911 to a mate in Glasgow for now.

If all else fails give Bahnstormers a ring. :nenau

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off topic

Horse - how ya doing?

Can`t help too much but to underline what has already been said and to say that, in my opinion, the OEM batteries are not overly strong for the job - I can recommend an odessey battery (not the right spelling but you get the drift?).

ANYWAY, how`s the BBQ? - Didn`t hear from ya!

Regards,

mark.

Could be the baffle in the exhaust stuck in the close position. That's what happened to me and I thought it was the battery.

will be calling Bahnstomers tomorrow, failed to start again.
bike only has to last one more year then warrenty runs out and bike will be going back to them.

Mark bbq is working well, will be breaking it out again soon. Sorry i didnt get back to you, few family problems, but all good now. Must get those photo`s to you when i tested the bbq.

Are you going to Hog Raost this year.?

Good to hear from you

Update:-
Called BMW assist, very quick turn up, the helpful chap found the battery had died. He also found that there is a choice of batteries for the 2010 gsa`s, checked with Bahnstomers and sure enough they fit these smaller batteries with some cheap tray thing to take up the gap. The BMW chap fitted the bigger battery, he checked the starter motor and exhaust flap, no faults found. So all good to thrash this weekend.

Once again thankyou BMW Assist..:thumb2
