1705447069872.jpeg I have just taken my stand off to repaint it and found that the reinforcing webs on the lever part, where you put your foot, appear to be bent? Could anyone have a look at their bike and tell me if if these webs are supposed to be straight?
Thanks
Stan

Thanks for the quick reply, looks like I'm straightening mine tomorrow. No idea how it got bent like that!
Just checked mine and it's straight like dub 24s. Can't see any cause for concern with yours as long as non of the weld has broke. But like you say if the stand is off may as well try and straighten it.

I'm interested in the paint process as I have long been mulling over painting mine.

I was going to go with Hammerite satin finish black, two coats probably.

I’d guess it’s caused by spinning the bike around whilst on the centre stand, twisting the stand legs.

I've had it from new and can assure you that it has never been spun around like that or ridden off the stand! As regards paint, I am having it powder coated along with a couple of other parts, it's done 112,000 miles so due a bit of tlc.😁

Not quite on topic but close. I had one of my centre stand bolts shear off a couple of years ago. The way that they fit isn't a great design, but they are fairly easy to replace. I was just leaving the petrol pump and heard a scraping sound, had a look down and one side of the stand was dragging on the tarmac. Luckily I was on the way to work where I could source a temporary bolt and I carry tywraps so not a big issue.

I would advise people to lub the pivot bolts regularly and have a look every now and again at the wear state. Bike is 09 GS with 75k at the time.

Whilst you are beneath the bike, check the single frame-to-gearbox longitudinal bolt (under the rear of the gearbox above the centre stand/footbrake pedal right hand side) is still in place.

I had one vibrate/fall out on my first hexhead which made the bike feel a bit 'loose' in the middle.
