2011 R1200GSA struggling to accelerate at high rpm problem!!

I have been scouring ebay and facebook to find a used housing to 100% make sure that stops my issues before 350£ for a new one :(

No lol, different one from bahnstormer in Alton.

one of their guys who's been there forever point blank lied to me saying BMW don't do updates,

if you want it updated in software I'd ONLY go to Guildford, I forget his name, a great chap who knows what he's on about and very personable..... Mark maybe ???

I'd only get a software update (and maybe make sure they wipe adaptions - in case the GS911 is making this up)- if its got ESA could be 30 or 45 mins labour - might be a calibration bit to run through that's not on the bikes without it.

I wouldn't get them to do anything else, the BMS-k DME (engine ecu) can't diagnose much with this bike so they'll be pretending anyway. It can't even tell if a coil is playing up as I understand it.

check this for a giggle doing a K1300 update at home... goes on, but quite funny listening to his tales of woe and the wife in the background https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxpgd_a4Btk

Afternoon Good Sirs.

So I have bypassed the internal housing filter by drilling through the filter but stopping before going through the bottom of the housing with a 7mm.

I then went through the top outlet with an 8mm, carefully feeling for a bit of the internal filter housing and checking with a torch, once threw I could see the white frosted outer housing through my hole.

Drill bit came out with the expected black plastic as well as clumps of old looking silicone substance.

The daylight in the pic is through the white housing. Casing is still pressure tight as I tested the pressure again, and to check for leaks.

120psi. But blowing through it is free and easy now.

Flushed the housing under pump pressure.

Then mounted fuel pump back in the tank.

Attached a mahle filter that comes on the 1150s and Ducati....

Filter outlet to the factory hose to injectors

Then a nice easy 1/2 circle with no kinks to the easy disconnect

Bike starts and idles 100%

Test ride in 5min

Nice work I think I would have a closer look at mine but I had mine replaced under the "safety campaign"

Only a few thousand miles But If that works BRILLIANT! :bow

I doubt few would have pursued the issue with your tenacity

Any pics of the Bits of it ??

Will keep this in mind as that 1150 Mahle filter looks quite a bit smaller than the Bosch Golf GTi filter that I have fitted.
So next service. oops, sorry BMW I forgot your filters are fitted for life

Fark off,

7mm bit for bottom spigot

8mm for the top hole of the disconnect, 63mm deep. Any more and come out the other side.

8mm ID fuel hose and jubilees.

Mahle KL145 filter, I took a 7mm and opened both the in and out of the filters spigots.

Also make sure you have sharp drill bits.

Been on it for hour and all good. Accelerates lovely at 90 and even lower down is brisket, I might just not have noticed it was lacking down low.

All in all I'm very happy and when I next service it, it's just the outer black panel and filter change in 10minutes. I'm gonna change it in a few says to ensure no crap has built up from drilling etc.
.

On a side note I'm so fast at stripping this bike now I should help BMW out at the dakar

Good to hear you got it sorted.
I was a bit miffed when I reverse flushed my filter, filled it with fuel and blew it through with the airline at 150 psi and Knackered it, looks like it did me a favour in having to fit a remote filter.

Lol 100%. This way no more cleaning the damn thing ever again

Very interesting, and glad you got this result after all of your labours. Tenacity should be your middle name!

Thanks, things like this eat at my soul so I cant relax until its solved.

Learnt loads and have had the bike in peices so I'm happy with how everything works now.

I've followed this saga unfold. Many of us have encountered a similar spiral of desperation with a difficult to solve mechanical or electrical issue whether car or bike related and I'm so glad that you've triumphed.

I'm also pleased that you kept the thread updated. This will serve future GS owners well; the number of times I've researched a problem only to find forum threads identifying the problem, perhaps a couple of suggestions and then silence, and no conclusion = nil value to anyone else experiencing similar symptoms. So good on you.

I didn't spot a post saying it now pulls hard at the top end?

have u had a chance to test it fully... I guess if its now getting fuel the adaptions need to settle a bit ?
also still keen to know if your indicators just keep flashing non stop when riding or not ?

I have reset adaptations and just went for a quick ride and its pulls very hard above 80.

Slingshots you on a torque wave compared to before.

My indicators self cancel after 10s or 200m
Can change the time and distance on gs911
Also my indicators are led from bmw when new
