2013 1200GS range?

Works very well on my wife's fiesta ;-)

Back to topic... I changed from a GS to a GSA for the extra range mainly, but although 370+ is possible it's also great to stop and stretch - more fuel onboard is convenient over a long day, but you still need to keep fresh and alert.

Also bare in mind the fuel readout will vary from bike to bike - across the BMW range, over time I've been able to trust mine but I still set the trip.

370? I'm lucky to get near 300.

Yep, I managed 375m once on the GSA, but that was a very long and tedious motorway trip where I did the entire tank in one go. Tank range and (I hope) bigger screen are two of the reasons why I'm changing from the LC to the LC GSA when it comes along.

Cheers
Jimmy

Didn't drive a lot, perhaps 1700 km by now, but the range is well over 300 km, with a potential to reach 400 is my guess. I switched the eco mode on, but purely for entertainment reasons. :D

Must be the odd one out: two up with luggage and 90/100mph cruising it dropped off to around 170 miles to a tank full.
Got around 240 miles to a tank when on a B road amble though.

Took one out for a test ride on Monday. Salesman gave me a fuel card as it had 5 miles range showing. I didn't get 500m before it stopped! Had to run back for the spare litre tucked in the tooltube of my GSA! Filling to the brim added an additional 21 litres so that was 22 l into a 20 l tank and it still said there were miles to go?
The GSA has given me 30 miles beyond the range to get me to the next petrol station.

I have just under 3000 miles on the clock since I took delivery early June. I have been riding 2 up fully loaded mostly motorways and by ways throughout Europe/eastern Europe. I haven't re set the trip on the mpg since I took delivery and it shows 51 mpg.

I guess normal riding should give you better figures but I reckon this is the worst you can expect.

By the way I have been reading most of the posts here about the new 12 GS. I have to say I have been a GS owner now for some years from the 1150 on wards and IMHO this bike (2013 GS) is by far the best bike I have ever ridden :beerjug:

Mines used daily. 10 miles to work and same back. Route is 60/40 national speed limit/ dual carriageway vs 30mph. I get an indicated 46mpg on the dash but run my tank full to empty. Always get 180 miles before the light comes on. Ridden very hard I get 170milws to a tank (.5 litre left in it!!!).
Long distance I get 190-200 miles.

I ride mine hard at all times and generally ignore the speed limit if I think I can safely do so and am unlikely to get caught. I seek to employ a fully open throttle whenever I can and believe that brakes are happiest when being used hard, and late.

I still get 46mpg and nearly 200 miles per tank.

Though if I had been more gentle with my brakes I might have got another 500 miles out of them and wouldn't be waiting for new pads due to the apparent pad shortage...

You'd have enjoyed the road ride last weekend!:augie:D:beerjug:

I nearly ran out of petrol last Saturday when I stopped for fuel at the BP service station Cromwell on the A1 north bound near Newark.
This was not a fault with the bike but was due to the window licker who shouted over the tanoy to take my helmet off. At the time I had my flip front helmet up and my wife was half way across the fore court ready to pay for the fuel.
So I can only assume that they think all motorcyclist's are thieves and are going to do a runner Now to complete my rant if I was driving a shit old car and wearing a hijab do you thing I would have had the same response.
As result I rode of to the next station a happy Shell one and arrived with only 5 miles showing, and yes I would have happily ran out of petrol but there was no way they were getting my F *****g money

Please feel free to boycott this and all petrol stations that are not motorcyclist friendly.

And in answer to the question range is generally about 200miles. And on that day was 207 and that was two up with luggage at a steady 90mph and the bike has done 8000miles so is well run in.

I'm giving serious thought to buying a WC 1200GS; really, the only thing against the decision (other than price!) is not knowing the tank range. I've read the official figures on the Motorrad site, and I know the tank size, but it's not real world, is it? I don't ride like a hooligan (in fact, I'm quite reserved most of the time), but I do travel quite a bit, so range is quite important.

What are you getting on average? I'd like the useable range to be as close to 200 miles as it could be, but I'm interested in real world numbers. Any thoughts from current owners would be welcome.

In normal riding you will easily get 200 miles to the tank.
