2013 gs TE LEMON

I agree with the last few posts. I read the manual cover to cover. Did I miss the warning that said damage will result is the suspension is set for two when riding solo?

If it is possible to damage the bike in this way there must be a warning, a BIG one.
Given that there isent I conclude that this is a bit of assumption or hear say.

Please prove me wrong.

Not a great letter in many respects. I don't work for BMW, but the opening gambit pushed me away before I got anywhere near the heart of the issue. As JB said, you should have taken it up with your supplying dealer first, and if they had failed to correct or rectify the issue, then go down the route of BMW, listing the various diagnostic pathways your dealer took and how/why you're still dissatisfied.

Prepare to receive a letter advising you to go to your local Motorrad dealer. I have a Suzuki car dealership and Suzuki, like all manufacturers, will pass the buck to the dealer as first port of call.

Was that letter written by an illiterate donkey?

Recall it mate. Get a solicitor to write it for you.

When and where have BMW said you will damage the bike if riding in 2-up mode with 1 person on it? Sounds like utter tosh to me

Actually th op said it and I quote.
"The setting of the ride height that causes damage to the driveshaft when used solo set to 2 person setting is laughable"

So if he is experiencing damage riding in this manner then why not simply lower the pre load as its fair to assume he's not experiencing damage when in either of the other two lower settings or he would be complaining about that too.

As indeed they should - the OP bought the bike from a dealership, not BMW

This modern motorcycle ownership malarkey seems awfully complicated.

Can you buy directly from BMW or do you have to buy through one of their franchised dealerships ? :nenau

He probably doesn't know yet that BMW monitors the forums and ebay, yep they do employ a team to do just that. So if you have a gripe with them keep it confidential. I sincerely hope this is just a piss take, but then again it is the WC section.

It has to be a wind up.:rob Surely nobody's that stupid?:comfort:eek::D

We'll I like posts like this, sometimes. A bit of good natured 'banter' is ok, right?

I tried the two person setting on the way home tonight. I couldn't sence any difference other than being a little higher that is.

I spent 24 years in the Army, and like you say banter is good thing when measured properly. However, I would think that the site would also want people to enjoy the site, learn from more experienced individuals, and more importantly contribute to the site, both in posts and financially. Potentially driving someone away may not be a good thing in the long run.

I had the ESA and shaft drive changed on my bike for this very reason. My 2013 MY ran rough as fcuk when I forgot to change the ESA back to solo after I dropped my pillion off. In the end they swapped the bike and the 2014 MY Bike is much better

Dear team
I run a 1200 member bike club with connections throughout the biking world

I'd like to have it known that I also have (naval) connections... My mother once sang in the Pirates of Penzance. :D :thumb2

the sound from the driveshaft of my 2013 TE when rolling off the throttle and taking the load off the engine, sounds rough, dog rough!:blast its going back next week:mad:

Back for repair, or replacement bike, Steve?

That happened to mine when I left her in pillion mode when I dropped my pillion off and forgot to change to solo

I did a little riding around a campsite yesterday, without earplugs in. I never realised my bike (1200TC) made such a racket! The FD backlash sounded harsh, the motor was....well, it was all just one huge and out of tune cacophony of noise.

When I left the site the earplugs went back in and all in the world was good again. :thumb2
