2013....looking good

The spec of the new GS is amazing,I am sure if you go for all the toys it will be expensive but it makes the Triumph Explorers look distinctly last century in every way.

?...... it makes the Triumph Explorers look distinctly last century in every way.

It does?
I thought it was a bit of catching up by BMW? Fly by wire throttle, cruise, etc. are on the Triumph base model from day one and not expensive options.
It's great to be loyal to BMW but a balanced view is far more sensible.

It seems everyone is getting very defensive regarding the Explorer, must be good competition, which is always good for the sector.

Perfect timing by BMW. I've just sold a much prized possession and made a few quid which is now looking for a new home. I'll certainly be watching this one with interest! Personally I like the looks, my current 04 GS is an ugly fekker but that's part of it's charm and I do like the way the new one looks. Appeals to me anyway. :D

Haven't had time to look at the full spec etc but can anyone tell me if the current varios will fit ok? Hope they haven't altered the fitments so that a whole new set would be required? If they do fit that's a nice big plus for me, just recode the locks to the new key!...... or keep a key from the old bike:augie

I don't think so, being as the exhaust is on the other side.:blast

Looks like a dog's dinner !!

What's with the stupid cut out on the front mudguard ??

If I was in the market for a new bike I think I'd stick with orange :

New KTM 1190 Adventure.

Lighter than the GS at 235 kgs wet and with 150 bhp,23 litre tank etc etc.

The R is even nicer :

Comes with traction control and optional EDS (electronic damping system)

The RC8 motor is a peach, having owned one when they came out,so I'm sure this will be a belter

It's not very water-cooled is it?

:rob

Pretty sure BMW state that they have specifically limited the watercooling to reduce complexity. It's also why there are still air cooling fins to further aid cooling

So when does the WC GS get a Uk release, can't find any mention when we'd be able to get my grubby mitts on one?

Looks good in black... as others are no doubt thinking, I wonder how the ADV will look...

Looks like a great road bike, and probably better than its immediate rivals for a bit of off road malarkey. They're getting further and further from their roots, arent they.

M

Sent from my wanky posepad using wanky talk 4.67 revb like who gives a fekk

I would say that now, the 1190 Katoomer IS an immediate rival, and it has the WC beaten.

historically the ktm has always been a better off road tool than the beemer, but as most buy for the road that's not that big a deal IMO.

i plan on trying both anyway :)
