The supplier either makes something to the customers specification or makes something and the customer is satisfied with that specification.
Bmw can easy change the spec or change supplier.
And I make a point of using the kill switch EVERY time I ride.![]()

Oh and he is a twat for using the emergency kill switch to stop the bike, that is what the ignition key is for. There is a reason it is called the "emergency" kill switch, use it only in an emergency, and now he knows why because that have been know to jam in the off position, it is basic stuff which is taught at CBT level.

Yep, it's the right hand kill switch. A general recall on the early 2014 GS TE. Had it done in 20 mins the other day by Duffys. It's no problem. Its the GS too. Right hand side kill switch is subject to a recall on mine, feb 2014 build. No great shakes, half an hour while you wait.
Switches are fine on both my 2015 BMW'sAs they bloody well should be.

Hi
I have been told by a very reliable source that most main dealers have boxes full of failed switches, the failure rate is bigger than most of us would imagine.
I love the boxer engines and have put two hundred thousand miles on 3 1100 variants without anything other than diy servicing. Next year I have decided that I am going the have a change but am really undecided on which way to go, preference would be to stay with BMW but I really could not put up with the idea of paying a premium price for budget fixtures.![]()
