Who cares what they think - still enyoying mine and no issues so far

I've ridden one , I own one having paid £16,500 for it and it is a very big disappointment, it has 2 faults which make it shit to ride and a number of smaller niggles.

Now you may say it is a one off but I know it isn't having spoken to other owners who have similar problems.

It is not acceptable on a bike at this price and as much as certain people on here try to deny that any of the bikes could ever have problems (and it is obviously the owners or riders fault) , gets your heads out of the sand because there are problems with consistency of build quality .

I would love to say the bike is superb and a joy to ride and worth every penny but mine certainly isn't and it is a shame as it has the potential to be so much better

Why are you taking any notice of them? Most of them haven't even ridden one, they're just trying to get a reaction. The pleasure is in knowing.;)

thats great and i genuinely happy for you but getting a good bike seems like a very expensive lottery to me.

I don't doubt that you have a problem with yours, as several people genuinely do. My post was aimed at the people saying they're all shite, and BMW have dropped the ball :blagblah which isn't correct.

There are plenty of bikes without problems, as there should be, but people don't post good news on Internet forums, so we don't hear about these as much. Look at the sales figures; if there was a large percentage with problems, we'd certainly hear about it more, not just from half a dozen (I haven't actually counted, so it may be a few more, or less) or so people on here.

As your bike is so bad, what are BMW doing to sort it out?

Simple - if what you read on a forum makes you think that then don't buy one.

not what i had read but what i have had personal experience of after riding 3 different bikes.

you must be a very unlucky person - a bit of advice, don't waste your money on lottery tickets.:)

P.S. How many miles did you do on each of those 3 bikes?

..........and my personal experience having owned 2 is that both where great bikes - go figure!

yep your right i dont do the lottery:D

50 to 60 on each, yep not a long term experience granted but enough for me not to want to own one, glad to give them back,on the first test the salesman couldnt quite believe i was back early and wasnt particularly taken with it.btw on the roads i went on 2hrs each i suppose.que it wasnt long enough bla bla but i honestly hated the bikes.

I've done over 21,000miles on my 2013 LC and had a couple of loaners - would buy another without hesitation.

that just supports my lottery analogy dont ya think?

No - you personally just do not like the WC GS - what's that to do with the lottery!

Agreed that there are many bikes without problems...I rode an LC across Namibia....mostly washboard gravel stuff, dust storms etc and it was fine....didn't miss a beat in a couple of thousand Ks. Really impressed with Enduro mode as well. Really great bike.

Unfortunately, can't say yet same for my GSA. I am not sure what percentage of WC owners this forum represents and until you do it is impossible to say whether the WC has more problems than previous models or other makes.

What I do know is my £18k GSA is potentially a great bike...sadly it doesn't work properly and has a number of issues which I have to say has left me pretty fecked off. When I have outlined these problems I have been surprised by the number of people who have had similar.

Hopefully BMW are on the case and will resolve. Based on my limited experience I would want a GSA...I would just hold off for a bit in the hope that the issues are resolved. So far I have lost confidence that I have bought a quality and reliable bit of kit. Hopefully this will rerun over time.

Having had a KTM 990 and a Multistrada 1200 I will take the GS WC every time. it's not been perfect, but the Ducati had even more problems.

Had mine since Mar13 and 11K now and adventure type bikes are the only type that suits my ageing injuries. Looking around the competition I cannot think of any bike I would rather be riding. Did nearly 3k in Sept round France, Alps & Pyrenees with sports bikes and GS was brilliant.

If you're not happy, you need to be proactive, not reactive. Get on the blower to HQ, tell them exactly what's wrong with your bike, and get it sorted. They won't chase you, so you absolutely have to grab the bull by the horns, and not give up until it's sorted. They will sort it, but sometimes you need to do a bit of work to get the outcome you want.:thumb

Mines done 6500 miles since March and its a brilliant bike. Ok so it wasnt 100 percent perfect and needed a new clutch, and it is a bit more firmly sprung than the other gs 's i had, but overall its the dogs bollocks and the pinnacle of gs bikes.

i know its not quite as tank like in build quality as the older bikes (this probably is my one disappointment - i liked the tonka toy feel on the 1150/1200TC) but its lithe, quick, and exciting (relatively) if thats your bag. The dealers are also great when you do need their support, its a number one seller for good reason, you cant please everyone (and some people are very resistant to change) so any moaning should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I would have a 1200tc again but theres no getting away from the fact its a bit of a plodder compared to the LC and gets very ropey at high revs, encouraging a different style of riding. The new bike is a revelation in my eyes, i came back from a test ride knowing i had to have one.

The switchgear recall is twenty minutes while you wait, free coffee n wifi available, hardly a big deal.

Went one better and spoke to the lead person from technical support on the bmw stand at the nec , he denied ever having heard of any faults on the gsa wc regarding esa suspension, gearboxes, faulty switchgear, poor finish, as I was leaving I was collared by another gsa owner who stated that was exactly what he had been told when he had questioned them about the same problems on his bike.

The people on the BMW stand at the show are there to sell bikes. They will, of course, deny all knowledge of any faults, as there are lots of potential new customers milling around. There is a procedure to get your bike fixed/ replaced, you just have to follow the procedure, and it will get sorted. To leave the bike in the garage and not ride it, is not the way to go.
