I have a 2014 f800gs I'm trying to resurrect after sitting for 3-4 years. I used a jump pack to boost it and it ran roughly for about 5 seconds. I tried again and I lost power to everything. Checked and replaced blown 30 amp fuse at the positive battery terminal. Now I have dash lights only. There are a few warning lights that are on. No starter engagement and I don't hear the fuel pump. I am new to this model and just read that there are few fuses to check. Could somebody point me in a direction? There must be something else blown from the boost. Cheers, Jeff.

Battery voltage level is what?

30amp fuse at battery?????
To the best of my knowledge (I'm on my 6th 800cc engine F series bike) none of the F650/700/800GS models have any fuses associated with the machines electronic/electric systems!

If the battery has sat for the same length of time as the machine, me personally I would replace the battery. Even jump starting it, the bike will not run if the battery is pooped.

Hi Steve. I put a fully charged battery in it. I will double check the voltage on it. The 30 amp fuse seems to be the main fuse in line on the smaller of the 2 cables running off of the positive terminal. No fuel pump start-up hum and no starter engagement. I'm going to look at safety/kill switches today. I feel like I fried something with the boost. Cheers.

Why was the bike off the road? It's just that the fault may have been extant all along, which would explain the dormant period.

Ideally you will need a GS911 or similar to check &/or clear faults. Given the dash is alive, I guess it could be the fuel pump/controller or a relay.

You can check the starter & relay by feeding 12v direct to the SM terminal briefly, but take great care managing the jump lead. Similarly you can apply 12v direct to the fuel pump - if it's good, then the Control module is suspect. It may be worth running through the list of common faults for your model, under the 'Bikes' section in the forum header.

My favourite guess is the fuel pump.
Other guesses are available.
Logical approach based on fuel and spark elimination should get you somewhere. ;)

The fuse I am referring to looks like an aftermarket fuse that may have been spliced in. I will take a pic the next time I am at the bike. I am also going to have a careful look at what's there. I need to investigate #4 in that picture.
That's where I was going with my question. If the fuse doesn't look like the one in the photo (unlikely that it would given that it is a 2014) then it's something that was added to the bike which makes it harder to speculate on the cause of your issue.

Ok, I'm at the bike and upon closer inspection that 30 amp inline is just a trickle charge cable that was attached to maintain battery voltage while parked at home, so it's out of play.

Well, I have an update. I was able to decode the symbols presented; EWS and yellow triangle present so Electronic Immobilizer is Active. How do I reset that?

Could it be a fault with the transponder malarkey near the key barrel.

I had this on. F800 TB.

About 100 quid fix I think

The location of the ignition switch on these bikes makes it a straightforward fix. Just need a suitable bit to remove the security bolts which mount the switch. Once again these are easy to obtain.

Thanks folks. I have an obd2 adapter on it's way. I've downloaded Motoscan. Hopefully that works with my Ediag Scanner.
