Hello all
Just back from 2 weeks in the Alps, doing all the usual passes (it was awful...
). Rode a near new 2015 GS with the heavier crank.
Perhaps I had a Friday bike, as it seemed to lack grunt compared to my 14 model. I couldn't catch mates on 2014s, and I was trying hard...
Rode my 2014 today back in Oz. Night and day - pulls much harder...the gearbox is even better...
Perhaps it is my in-line-4 background, but I much prefer the free revving light crank version of the GS.
The bike only had 1500 km when i picked it up, so it may have been still a bit tight.
The brakes and handling were the usual (high) GS standard on the 15, but the engine was a let down.
Good off the bottom....but the power tapered off in the mid range.
It also had the keyless ignition, which was quite convenient....as long as you left the key in your pocket....however, this became a problem if your mate rode it...and you still had the key in said pocket.....
