I've been told my new Adventure will come with a steering damper and so will the GS and RT. Why has it not been fitted to the 2013 bikes?

It could be this ?

Or ask your dealer and come back here and report so we can have 200 pages of opinions from the "experts". Sarcasm form insurance brokers and professional truck drivers, GP's , retired/serving Police/Fliers/SAS/Army/Navy/TA/Fireperson officers/NCO's and than YOU may or may not have the answer .

But the truth is out there......:comfort

So you can say you've been ripped-off and placed in mortal fear of your life.

Alternatively, because they can as an alternative to doing anything else they fancy, like changing the colour and adding radiator guards.

Because if you stand on the pegs with your arms off the bars in Leonardo di Caprio mode while travelling fast over a washboard surfaced dirt-track there is a chance of a tank-slapper. Better to be safe than sorry eh?

I've fitted a Toby steering damper. Now I will be able to stand on the seat with cruise control on at 100mph and let go of the handlebars.

I haven't got one, so my bike weighs less and is much faster (especially as it's red) than ones with a steering damper!!

Me too, red and without a steering damper - it is very fast and changes gear just fine too :D

Because it's unnecessary. I've ridden the toilet in ALL conditions on ALL surfaces (tarmac, dirt, mud, sand, snow, wet, clay). It doesn't need a dampener.

Because bmuu knew they would have to take all those 2013 bikes back and exchange em for new ones, so it was just a money saving excercise not to fit em :D :augie

Would tend to agree - ridden lots of bikes that needed a damper and even fitted one to a 990 Superduke - but the Toilet GS does not fall into that category ;)

That said the only time I notice the damper on my 2014 model GS is when I am cleaning it so not bothered either way :)

Mine too never had an issue mines red with 10,000 miles on it ive never had a bike with one either, so not sure what to expect when I get the GSA in April is it adjustable or set to a nominal setting, just a thought because if I find it intrusive can set it softer, failing that remove it I suppose.
