2014 onwards 800 GS Adventure low seat option

According to the BMW website, the standard seat height of the 800 GSA is 890mm or 860mm with the low seat option. I have read that the low seat option on the previous 800 GSA wasn't compatible with the ESA. Is that still the case or is the low seat option now, simply a lower seat with no other implications to the bike?
