2014 RT's GROUNDED! DO NOT RIDE!

You're correct and not wrong................:D

Frankly it's getting a bit silly and some comedy

The number of bike rejections is quite astounding

So on what evidence have you made this comment?

I agree it does not look good for BMW and it does amaze me that there are so many issues

I think you've answered your 1st sentence, with your 2nd sentence :)

So no explanation needed from me

If anyone is in any doubt, just read the WC section

There are some prolific members on their subsequent bike's in there

It's a great bike on paper & to ride, but boy are there some flaws in it's execution

We ought to do a Poll:D

Well, as it stands at the moment, I, for one, will not be rejecting mine. However, I will await the full official statement from BMW as all I've seen so far is conjecture and hearsay! But I realise that, for some, that counts as good sport.

I can't believe how tolerant you lot are of consistent and persistent failures from BMW. How long do you think their car business would survive with such appalling quality control?

The new GS (allegedly) did for one of our best bike journalists, although of course the decision to fit a steering damper to all the new ones could just be a coincidence Now the new RT is withdrawn before it manages to do for somebody else and the overwhelming reaction on here is "aren't the dealers doing well?"

Well, I was thinking about trading my Multistrada for one of Germany's finest but maybe I'll take a while to think about that. I was annoyed when the heated grips stopped working but at least the thing hasn't tried to kill me yet!

:hide:hide:hide:hide

Yeah well said. There are a lot of people on here with BMW blindness!
As for that 'TJ' on page 9. Well what a load of bollocks! Why should the British customers put up with poor quality goods and 'customer service response' just because we don't live in a litigious society. Oh, and by the way TJ if you are going to use this forum as a BMW marketing tool I suggest you pay some advertising fees! or at least subscribe. And before you start slagging me off, we now live in a social networking society so everyone is allowed an opinion, weather you like it or not. As for BMW, forums will run rife with rumour and hearsay if you don't keep your customers properly informed, maybe with a weekly progress report.

RichardBD - love the picture with you and Motarrad's chief designer!

Exactly what I thought, if i'd bought a new RT, I'd have printed that BMW NA sheet off and sent it straight down to Bracknell - for similar treatment in the UK

Why should UK buyers be treated any differently ??

I did not answer the first question with the second.

I have read the WC section and recollect about 5 rejected bikes.

but to be fair a lot of comments on not finding neutral etc.

However what I do find amazing is the fact that this bike was reputed to have been road tested to death - so why the continued issues

There's the rub. They aren't road tested to death, it's the owners that do that.:D

Hmmm it's that "TJ" here again.

As you say Bigdave, we are all entitled to our opinions & if you think "it's a load of bollocks", then that's your opinion.
I just felt that an opinion from one of the BMW Motorrad dealers might offer a touch of balance to some of the views on here.

As for being a "BMW marketing tool & I should pay some fees"; perhaps you could checkout our advert (Balderston Motorcycles) on the LHS of the homepage.
Also, don't forget that there is the BMW banner on the top of every page on this forum - that isn't an inexpensive undertaking but one that BMW Motorrad feel is worth it to support YOUR forum.

Finally, if there isn't any news forthcoming from Germany, how can anyone keep you informed? There is alot of activity going on in the background to find the best possible way of resolving this issue.
There will be an announcement as soon as there is something to announce, hopefully sooner rather than later, but you will have to be patient for a little longer.

By the way, I have made the assumption that you are one of the affected owners? So as I mentioned in my earlier post Bigdave, you are entitled to a loan bike, car or a full refund - the choice is yours.

A loan bike, car or full refund - I am struggling to think why any reasonable person would complain about that.

P.S. over 16,000 miles on my 2013 GS and it is lovely :D

Perhaps because on what is a very expensive bike ALL of the development work should be done BEFORE it is released to the general public and this kind of action should not be required in the first place.
Yes bmw did not build the shocks but they signed off on them and their testing

So, according to TJ even the dealers have no idea whats happening?....no forthcoming news from Germany.....interesting.....or is it a case that some dealers are not willing to share information they do have?

I hear there's news that ALL these RT's could be getting shipped back to Germany very soon.....any comment on that TJ? :augie

Oh and you can make the assumption that I am an affected owner.....
