Interesting....................that's a very rare and costly occurance

Did not Triumph do the same with the Explorer engine problems - it may only have been UK bikes though![]()
Rare for BMW, when a bike leaves BMW Spandau it doesn't come back generally
Dealers usually do any rectification work, not the factory
A lot of discussion would have been obviated if BMW had just issued a statement through dealers stating precisely what the issue was, how it became known to them and what they were doing about it. It's all very well being given loan bikes/cars, refunds, alternative bikes etc. but most people would want to know exactly what the issue was so that they could make an informed decision.
An interesting thread which is of great interest even to a non RT owner.
You think they would ship the entire bike back rather than just the affected part for repair (presumably on the factory production line)?
Given they are not the owner, what paper work would that require? Would the owner have to explicitly authorise the shipment, or could it happen covertly?
Why would you expect your payments to be refunded ?
............ Would you pay for a Big Mc and say nothing if the table cleaner took it away from you before you had finished eating it? No, you'd go to the counter and demand another Big Mc.
Like feck would I.
I'd consider I'd had a very lucky escape.

Can you explain more clearly?
The letter goes on to state that we will be receiving £500 as credit towards BMW Motorrad products up to December 2014.
so there you go the official UK news - fixed during August with a £500 credit note!
A little different to the $2500 the yanks are getting !!
