2014 RT's GROUNDED! DO NOT RIDE!

maybe more equivalent to the 1300 Pan death weave then ? :P

Possibly, I witnessed 3 brand new 1300 Pans and 3 low mileage ones that had all sat for 12 months unridden being unceremoniously loaded onto a truck to go away to be CRUSHED. Effectively killed the uk police market for Honda and having seen the video of their handling at speed I can see why

do BMW have enough loaners to do that even for the 500 - 800 bikes in the UK?

Time will tell - there may well be a few less demonstrators/press bikes around for a while and waiting times to get a new bike may well go up as stock is diverted to cover the need. There are of course show rooms full of second hand bikes as well ;)

I knew someone at the time who had two very bad moments on a 1300, after a lot of too-ing and frow-ing he was given a new bike...a Goldwing! he had had 1100 Pans for years and was gutted by the 1300 experience.

I would have thought not given, I assume, you would be racking up the miles on a BMW loan bike free of charge whilst yours is being sorted.

I am also certain from my own experience that BMW will make sure that the owners of the grounded bike will be satisfied with what they are ultimately offered by way of compensation/good will gestures etc ;)

+1 on this...free GS LC to run for as long as you need before you jump back on yours... Experience of another bike plus getting yours back with fresh warranties etc... Sounds like a good deal... Apart from the fact you are not riding the bike you really ordered...

I was also offered a GS LC loaner bike today, but didn't really need it as I have a KTM 1190A. I was offered new BMW StreetGuard suit instead, which I thought was pretty good. My old SG suit is old and knackered, bought Klim suit a few months back, but can always use a spare set.

Here's what's happening in the US, as of yesterday. Nice to have some 'clarity' from BMW :)

Now that is interesting! If that's a genuine document it does look as if BMW are looking after their US customers at least. I wonder what the UK process will be? The thing is the bike was so amazing I just want to be riding it again as soon as possible.

I just want my brilliant RT fixed and back on the road.

+2 I just want my new RT delivered! It's presently built and living in a compound at the factory

Spoke to my dealer today as I had a test ride booked on the RT. They have had to put an extra 15 R1200GS LC's on the road to give to customers for the summer until their RT's are repaired, looking at August/Sept until the new rear shock is available.

Also, those who have placed an order for the RT are being offered a K1600GT for the same money!
Don't know how the numbers add up but on the face of it this looks a good deal.

Don't hold your breath!
Some BMW technician has already robbed it of its suspension parts...!

Not really , looks like point 3a was applied to me ( in my case GS LC ) twice . My dealer registered 20 new GS LC's to be loaned to customers . It is a unfortunate turn of events but I don't remember a manufacture adopting such a proactive measures to deal with its costumers .
