Hi everyone Farzad here from Vancouver Canada,
I have been ridding a 2004 GS for the last 10 years and before that had a 1150 GS that I sold it because of the weight of the beast. All my ridding is 2up with my wife. However it's time for a new bike and I am purchasing it in 3 days. Got the opportunity to ride a GSLC for two weeks in the alps and 2 days on a GSA LC as well I loved both bikes, my wife like the GSA back seat more and I like the slimness and nimbleness of the GS, the question is here:
Buy the GSA or buy a GS and add the adventure luggage to it and make it more roomy for the back seat?
Thanks.

I've had a 2014 GS on loan from June ..was a great bike , Nice and Flighty could keep with sports bike in the twisities…I wanted a bit more wind protection and comfort on the pillion too, so i bought the GSA..my 2015 one has now arrived and i love it …the GSA has more "road presence" here in the UK then the GS

Nah, get a GS, the GSA looks like a pregnant cow

Yeah but look at the presence of that!!! :D

GSA it is then :thumb

We'll I've consulted with my crystal ball and I predict the following:

All those who own the GSA will say that this is best

All those who own the GS will say that this is best

Johnny Boxer will claim the X-country is the finest motorcycle ever made :D

You'd probably be better off popping down to your local emporium of Bavarian Toiletery and spend some enjoyable time test riding each one and working out which is best for YOU!

Have fun and good luck with whichever of these fine machines you choose :thumb

Ps - the GS is much more nimble than the GSA and is for proper riders who like to go round corners quickly :D

I totally agree, the GSA has shit ESA, hard as nails and its like throwing a bus around..

Damn right and an £85 screen solves the wind protection issue :P

ps I ride a standard GS LC owner, so I'm biased, but made the right choice as someone who likes to make progress...

pps the pillion positions are basically the same and the Vario panniers don't stick out as far when unexpanded, so don't hinder progress as much :thumby:

Nonsense!:rob The three different GSA's I test rode before ordering mine had more supple suspension than the GS, and certainly didn't have a problem being thrown round some country lanes. The GS is going to be more nimble, and it takes a while to get used to the extra bulk of the GSA, but once you do, there's not much between them.:thumb

Which is why you've bought an S1000R as well :rob

Are you worried you won't be able to throw your oversized cow into the corners like you could your GS? ;) :P :D

Had a late 2013 GS and now a 2014 GSA - both great bikes but overall prefer the GSA - once you adjust to it, it's just as quick as a standard GS but more planted.

Suspension on my GSA is great and a bit better IMO than the GS.

That said now both the GS and GSA have the heavier crank motor there is less difference between the two and so just comes down to which one you fancy/prefer ;)

Ha

Been with Humvee all day in the German twisties - we had a good dabble & at times you can't get all the power down - but all the GSA 's are good
We're all out of 'chicken strips' here :)
