I see from Visordown, that the new 2015 models have been announced with a couple of new colours and the standard GS will now come with heavier crankshaft.....cool stuff

I also note that KEYLESS IGNITION is an option.

Question.....what would be the operating range of the remote. Say for example. you were getting cash out of a cash point, bike say 5 yards away and bike turned off, would some unscrouplulous scum bag be able to jump on your steed, thumb the starter and feck off??

just a thought!

From what I read, it's 2 metres. That still seems too far.

Will the bike not shut down if it moves out of range of the key?

Could he only feck off a few metres until he was out of range of the key fob at which point the bike dies and said scum bag legs it to avoid being sat on by Tosser until Mr Plod arrives?

Just thought of an even more amusing scenario. Bike moves away and you give chase, bike gets out of range and dies whilst you catch up enough that it restarts, make a great '20's style silent movie :D

If it's like the Ducati system, the bike won't start if the key isn't in range BUT once started it runs until switched off, regardless of where the key is. The dash flashes a message if the key is out of range.

Not ideal for security...

Is the new model going to have more power ?

Yes, providing you drop 40 pounds of fat in weight . Power to weight ratio will increase dramatically . Extra bonus ...you could actually see your cock without using a mirror .

I see the larger fly wheel will be standard now on the GS:rolleyes:

Kawasaki system works the same way without the transponder the bike will run until turned off

I thought the red was continuing!
Isn't it just the grey and blue which will discontinued and will be replaced by black storm and dark blue?

So why would a larger fly wheel be better? I like the lighter flywheel, it allows the engine to be more responsive. I always thought the flywheel on the old HexHead was too big.

Maybe just me but I think it's a step backwards.

Well it makes it less easy to stall at low rpm and starting off, also idle smoother. I seem to make smoother shifts on engines with a heavier flywheel, often had trouble doing so on my 07 K1200GT which felt like it had no flywheel at all. I guess it makes sense to make one R1200 engine for the GS, GSA, RT, and (soon) R, rather than two.
