2015 or 2014 dilemma

I thought they fitted the heavier flywheel from the GSA in the GS from 2014 onward and it was only the 13my GS that had the lighter flywheel?

Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong?

The 2014 models also had the lighter flywheel and were definitely more free revving. My 2014 engine was changed under warranty for a 2016 one and the new engine doesn’t feel as lively, but it does have a better gearbox

Well finally took the plunge and went for a 14 plate 7k miles black from hunts 3mnth warranty. BM dealers were offering a £800-£1000 less for my bike, I understand the 24month warranty is important. However this would tie me up to having it serviced at riders which speaking from experience are a joke. I have a bmw specialist locally that is top notch that will give it the once over immediately. Thanks for the advice can't wait till next week

No it doesn't

Gearshift assist was available from early 2014 I believe so could be an option. Has the dealer not given you the full spec?

I have GSAP on my MY17 GSA. It’s very very clunky compared to the quick shift on my 2011 S1000RR so I wouldn’t be expecting wonders after your S1000R. Hardly ever use us it on the GS as it seems more effort to use it than not, although I’m told it gets better with mileage

Its a honda dealer, just specifies usual TE spec. Anyway its not the end of the world if it hasn't got quick shift, judging by some of the comments it's not the smoothest.

TE spec now includes both keyless and gearshift assist, but they were options when first available. One sure fire way to get the shipped spec is to get the chassis number (bit that begins Z followed by 6 digits), which the dealer can get either from the paperwork with the bike (eg manual), from the VIN plate on the bike. Then put this into the VIN decoder linked to on a sticky in this forum. It won’t tell you if anything was added but will say what it had when it was built.
