2016 1200 GS Brake Pads

I'm a fairly new GSer so the linked braking is a bit of a novelty. I find I subconsciously just use the brakes like I always have, applying front and rear together but I guess the intention with the linked braking is that you forget about the rear brake? What do you seasoned experts do?

I have used biketorque racing as they do brembro at a good price , didiny t
Last as long as the Orem parts tho Oem returned around 6000 changed at first service , brembro after market around 4000. .
Both sets we used over similar conditions and area . I change once at service level

Wouldn't have thought there's any harm in using them like you do-- front and rear brake together. I have started to sometimes just use the front lever when going down steep hills etc. Suppose it may cause the rear pads to wear quicker if you use both?? unless the system compensates the for the extra pressure of using both levers?. The ABS should handle any likely hood of the back wheel locking but I'll never trust it to handle locking the front wheel on gravel or ice etc. as I think you would be down before the ABS or you knew about it. That's when I still use only the back brake.

Well...if you’re part of the IAM club brake pads last FOREVER as it’s a sin to use them. Try that on a track day

‘Dear Mr Rossi, we believe you would ride faster and smoother if you tried to anticipate the corner speed before arriving at it, in such a fashion that braking wouldn’t be necessary, and if you dare disobey this instruction you won’t be able to stamp your book in the evening with a gold star. To facilitate this you must use up vital brain capacity to exactly calculate when you should role off, drop three gears and allow your bikes engine to max out, rather than using your brakes. What most professionals do (just in case you don’t know) is ride everywhere in second gear and use the poor engine as a brake. Failure to do this when riding will induce ridicule from fellow IAM members when your brake light illuminates, in your head at least, so you’ll start to feel pressure when riding with fellow experts to get things just right - thus murdering any enjoyment you might have had if you just used your brakes for their intended purpose’.

Use your brakes how you think best mate. I do. I don’t have a book full of gold stars.

Just a bit of banter. I thought my IAM training was absolutely brilliant. But I’ve zero interest in group ride-outs because there are some train spotters in the ranks. Encourage everyone to do the course though. Excellent.

You shouldn't be riding at all with those credentials. Very dangerous to ride in slippers.
