Any one got a new GSA (2016 model). Have just checked the power socket under instruments on right side and not switching off. Can any one tell me if A, dose it switch of and B, how long is it live befor it switches of.
Cheers :thumb2

think it stays live for around 12 mins after the ignition is off…i heard this as i use the socket for the optimate plug and Nippys said get it plugged in within 12 mins of turning the ignition off as thats how long it stays live !

AUX SOCKET

Quote from GSA 2016 rider manual Section 8 Page 148
"AUTOMATIC SHUTDOWN - The sockets will be automatically switched off during the start procedure. - The power supply to the sockets is switched off no more than 15 minutes after the ignition is switched off, in order to prevent overloading of the onboard electrics. Low wattage electrical accessories might not be recognised by the vehicles electronics. In such cases power sockets are switched off very shortly after the ignition is switched off. - If the battery charge state is too low to maintain the motorcycles start capability, the power sockets are switched off. The power sockets are also switched off when the maximum load capability as stated in the technical data is exceeded."
Sockets? Standard is one I think on the dash, but I had an extra one fitted for the missus on the back for her heated vest. Hope it doesn't overload the system just cos I've got a Nav V, my phone charger and her vest running all at once.

I have ordered my GSA with a second power socket for wife's heated vest, I'm guessing the dealer is fitting as we discussed which side to position it.

Thanks for the information, most helpful. I will check it out tomorrow. May be it is switching off but taking longer than I thought. The old GS used to turn off after 1 minute and at same time as GPS shut down.
Thanks again.

Good to hear someone else is carrying pillion with consideration for their needs too :)
Our second socket was neatly fitted to the left side on the black plastic panel (mudgauard?) just below the seat lock key barrel.
Apparently, besides being their first, having never been asked before, it was a real PITA for the workshop with tank off and more.
Ain't tried it yet properly, though the missus is happy with it's location for ease of use.

Powerlet have a kit for a power socket. Fits above lh rear footrest hanger. Connect direct to battery. Simple and easy to fit.
