My whizz wheel is playing up - I sprayed in some contact cleaner but left/right works sometimes now but turning is random. It's under warranty as a used bike from BMW but guessing this means two long trips to sort? One to inspect and two to replace - or do BMW dealers work any other way - sending a video?? :unsure: :D

Anyone taken one apart to clean and have the instructions please?
 
Take it to dealer it’s surprisingly expensive part to replace indicator went on mine and made the extended bmw warranty a bargain!
 
Nav connector pins all cleaned and good. Sprayed some cleaner in the wheel but still random. Found video below but hoping access into wheel (to properly clean) might be less involved??

 
Has it thrown up a fault in the display??

If not then I don't think you're having connection issues

When my throttle went it threw up a fault

I think you are about to have a complete failure and because of the nature of the canbus system etc it will just need to be replaced
 
My mate has changed the wheel on his, just ordered the part and swapped it, not a massive job.
 
Mine is a bit hit & miss pressing right. Seems like internal contact to me.
A long hard press usually works.
 
Cheers guys - it is under BMW warranty so will have to let them deal with it - was just hoping a simple dismantle and clean might avoid dealing with 'them' but I guess not! I did find these older topics which show some hints

Has anyone located a wiring diagram for the 1200 Water Cooled? Plenty on the net for the old GS, but haven't been able to find one for the new bike. Want to have a look into rewiring my switches... Ta. (Wiring diag for old bike: http://www.r1200gs.info/R1200GS-WD2.pdf)

Adjusting the left hand switch cluster

So I'd like to rotate the left cluster clockwise from the left hand side. To give the indicators a better position. Iv slackened of the two tiny bolts holding it together but the thing will not move. I have the sat nav wheel fitted. I'd like to rotate that through 180 degrees but I think I...

Also everything is fly by wire now so its digital so a clean probably won't fix it
 
My 2016 uunit was fine

The one fitted to the 2022 loan bike they gave me failed within 500 miles. ( bike had 1100 miles on the clock)
