2017 GS steering lock keyless glitch

Ditto my 2017 keyless GSA only locks on the left, my 2015 keyless GSA I chopped in locked on both sides.
I took the new one back and complained and the dealer was unaware of this until they worked it out. When I picked it up we went around the showroom looking at the head stocks to see which ones did and didn't.
It seems that brand new 2017 stock only locks on one side and slightly older stock will lock both sides.

What on earth BMW we're thinking about with this I have no idea. What benefit there can possibly be in doing this escapes me.

How often does anyone not lock their steering to the left?
Every single day, twice a day on my old bike!
It was just the easiest position for me to lock it with the steering lock on in the space I had available. It's a complete pain now, so sometimes I don't bother which isn't ideal.

Its more cost cutting/saving if they have to drill the right side as well and the dowel it costs. So by only doing one side it save em dosh i guess. I asked my dealer AJ's why and they don't know? its a mystery :-(

A right pain for you then. I don't think many bikes lock to the right. But I may be wrong - often am.

For my wife, every single time the bike was put in the garage. That was until she swapped the R for the RS which, unlike my RS that's only 2 months older, doesn't lock to the right.

For me, every time the bike goes in the garage.

Given the choice, would always lock to the right - it's the only sensible thing to do if getting on the bike from the left hand side, as I do.

You mount up with your steering lock on?

You wouldn't get on from the right side, if on the sidestand, unless you had no choice. And the bike is far more stable with the steering turned to the left. And surely you unlock the steering before getting on? But each to his own ;)
