Hi all,

Im wondering what to do in regards to the wind buffeting I get with the stock screen.
I have it set to the lowest and I get some buffeting and I want to get rid of it.
I'm 6.4 and tall position on the seat.
I think the best solution would be sport screen from the rallye but wouldn't want to commit without some input from others in the same position as me.
Other option would be windshield extention but that makes it taller and when I use it in the upper position now it gives me more buffeting.
Has anyone fitted the screen attached or something similar?
I would appreciate any help

i'm confused by picture - you talking about a gsa but have a picture of a gs rally screen??

I am also 6'4 and ride a gsa - hex head 08 then a 15 LC and now a 18LC.

Tend to run with screen at full height - but for motorway work and big miles have a wunderlich screen extender - fantastic - tend to leave on a run screen lower and then bump up if needed - strangely screen lower with one of these on the top so basically same height as screen without one attached and its perfect. Note - I would recommend screen reinforce brackets from cymarc as either with screen full up and with an extender - some serious deflection when you are doing more than 60ish.

I'm the same but with the standard non-adventure street. I get really bad buffeting on my helmet at every setting. I've been thinking of moving to a smaller screen instead of the larger GSA one. I saw that Puig does a small double buble rally screen for about £70 that I might try.

I’m 6.2 and If I need to push on a bit crouch down to get in the bubble of the GSA screen. Funny that I never needed to do that on GS.

I get no buffeting at all on my Gs, 6ft 2 also, I have learned in the past, a good helmet, makes a massive difference, as wind normally comes up from the road, so try and keep knees as tight to the tank as possible.

I put the picture up to show the screen I was thinking to try and put on the bike... I am on the 17 plate gs adventure..

I'm with you on this one.. To try a smaller screen rather then going up...
You have a link or picture of the screen you are referring to?
Cheers

I have a Schuberth E1 and I’m convinced that the higher side, exposing one’s neck actually does culminate in more wind noise, either that or the screen shape is pushing more air that way. The E1 does have a peak and interestingly no wind chatter on it.

Option A - Wunderlich screen extender on the GSA Screen, gets a bit warm in summer as there's literally no wind, So I used this through colder months.

Option B - Powerbroze adventure sports screen. Wider than the rally one and better looking on a GSA and left in the low position offers clean air to the helmet.

EDIT. This is the first pic I could find with the sports screen (my mate sat on my bike) .

Screen

I use a cut dowm MRA Screen

Not the best pics but it works for me , i tried the larger screens and to be honest they seemed to make buffering worse for some reason , i find with the cut down MRA it still looks good but gives a constant stream of air around you and you can adjust it up and also use the flip up foil when on the boring main roads.
Pillion finds it fine as well and as said above the constant air seems to make the traveling more comfortable with less buffering.
Plus the fact you don't have a great plastic shield to peer over.

That looks fantastic... Thanks for sharing that..

I have the 'sport' screen, the OEM short jobbie on my GSA. I had the smaller screen on my Ducati, which worked well even at warp factor speeds, so for me getting the shorter screen wasn't an issue, and takes away all of the fiddling about with the standard screen - for me at least. I like it and wouldn't want to go to a standard screen, but then at 2m tall some turbulence was always going to occur :)

No problems putting your feet down then :beerjug: do you not need a really tall screen in the winter with support brackets "cymarc"

I use the standard GSA screen with the MRA thing. At 6’3” with a higher seat set on highest setting, I have no probs at all, can ride up to autobahn speeds with visor up, quite comfortably.

Now my KTM 1290, that had a really shite screen.

I used the Wunderlich screen extension previously on the standard screen, but it didn't completely do away with the turbulence problem. Good warm gear for winter and job done. I was even able to negotiate the ravages of cold, wet Wales in January, and no problems to report, and yes, flat-footed on the GSA certainly is a bonus :thumb

This the Puig one. I hadn't seen the Powerbroze or Cut down MRA ones before. Might look into those instead.

Ta for that.......:beerjug:

I am 6,4 and standard gs touring screen wasn't good at all so installed on my Rallye 2018 Puig Touring screen. Much better than standard but still can feel some wind on top of the helmet even if my screen is at highest point. I will suggest to get Puig Touring with extra deflector.
