2017 KTM Adventure Range.

Was speaking to a biker from Holland a few weeks ago that had a new BMW 1200 lc and the gearbox failed at 4000km. Haven't heard of that happening on any 1190 lol. You have to laugh at BMW owners they think there are the bees knees.

You girls are so easy to wind up, it's brilliant in here!:JB

I've seen the spec for the 2017 Africa Twin,
180BHP, shaft drive to rear
Hydraulic hub drive to the front
ABS,
Corner ABS assist
Double triple anti brake abs assist pro deluxe
Anti auto pro pannier assist.
Auto indicators
Auto lights, and revolutionary auto mirrors.
It'll have 7 engine modes which are auto selected depending on what county you're in.

That should put the cat amongst the pigeons! :blast

You forgot the telelever front suspension

I've heard it will be too heavy and no good off road on Rutland foreshore gravel.

Rumours are they have still not fixed the spoke corrosion but the great news is you can have gold rims with any colour

Why make it worse?

Oh contraire Rodders - the Telelever is a vast improvement over telescopic forks (also a BMW invention by the way) - the
Telelever is the best all round compromise for a road bike - the 1200GS TE suspension setup has the most amazing stability and handling, it shrugs off pillions and a full load to the point where handling is just as good two-up as it is solo. The AT I rode was a pogo-stick in comparison, better for off-road but rubbish for fully loaded road work.

You're absolutely right ..

That's why EVERY competition bike in EVERY class of motorcycle sport use conventional telescopic forks-
MotoGP
Every Superbike class in the world.
IOM TT bikes
Dakar racers
Motorcross racers
Trials competitors
Suzuka 8 hours
ETC ETC

The Telelever system does have some advantages but it's far from the best setup. Same goes for shaft drive, it also has some benefits but it's far from the perfect solution.

For "Fully loaded road work" it's a good system, however not everybody buys a bike to do that.

So you agree with me then.

BMW the first to use 'damped' telescopic forks on a production motorcycle - the Scott was an undamped pogo stick:)

So BMW is not the inventor then as you claimed.

Not really you tedious cock.

What does 'not really' mean? You agree with part of what I said?

But you do agree with the Telelever is a great compromise for road use, especially fully loaded two-up? Compared to say the AT which has a more off-road bias and therefore shifts the compromise away from road use and therefore makes it better than the GS for some tasks but weaker for road use?

Not the inventor of the undamped (not very good) telescope but inventor (first user) of proper damped forks.
