2018 KTM 790 Adventure

What would be the point in that, as you’ll throw another hissy fit and get all defensive again? It’s quite obvious if you think about it though.

Why do you need the Africa Twin, if this bike is so perfect?

Why don’t you explain why despite the 790 being the perfect only bike, you still need others in the garage? And “because I can” won’t cut it.

We all know that this bike will be up for sale within the next year, so your posts are just white noise. :dabone

Well said, for just one bike your 1290 is just fine

I don’t need the Africa Twin but I bought it last summer , way before the 790 was released . And you can’t answer why you have the 1290 yet dismiss the 790 because you don’t actually know :-)

As you know, I'm just kidding.... we've all previously enjoyed the premature ejaculations of the Tenere, CCM, Honda AT and 450 ;)

I know what you’re saying but I think KTM designed a bike to ride by road to the trails then be better off-road than most other similar bikes . The benefits of tubeless outweigh the disadvantages?

And if someone is going to use their bike hard offroad then what’s stopping them fitting tubes or even mousses ?

I didn't say the advantages of tubes outweigh tubeless or vica versa, just pointing that neither is perfect but one can stop you.

Both will stop quite a few as not everybody can change a tube out in the sticks , me included !!

Is Nutty still trying to work out why his 1290 is perfect yet he dismisses the 790 as an only bike ? Or perhaps he’ll wait till he’s ridden the bike before dismissing it, not that it stops most on here .;-0

Of course I know, you muppet, I bought the thing. :blast

We all know you’re excited, and the 790 is now the bestest bike in the world ever, but it won’t be long before it’s up for sale.

But you deliberately duck the question as to why you would have the 1290 as your only bike yet not the 790, a bike you’ve not even ridden.

I get it alright, but wouldn't want one as an only bike, as I do big trips.

Would you have it as an only bike? With those tyres? :augie

You asked me whether I could have the 790 as my only bike and I said that I could ,yet you won’t explain why you couldn’t . I guess you should actually ride one first ?
I regularly do 2000+ mile trips and I’m undecided whether it’ll be the 790 or ATAS I take to Spain on the annual Asturias trip, and also to Utah next year .

What is it about the 790 that makes it a no-goer for you ? Genuine question as I’m intrigued?

It can’t be that difficult to answer, can it ?

And is faffing around in Calais trying to get maps to load on a satnav classed as a big trip ? :-0

But I could expand on the mild inconvenience of having a puncture with tubes compared to tubeless when it could be a show stopper....unless your carrying ....tubes :D

Because Tim C made the reference which suggests to some that Tubeless = no problems and that's most definitely not the case :)

I think you're deliberately missing the point, remember most 'adventure bikes' follow the fashion and aren't ridden hard off road :ChrisKelly

Please Sir, Please Sir I know what you mean!

Tubless are great and hopefully can be fixed with a plug but if not a tube and levers maybe your next option so worth carrying if you are traverling where it’s going to be down to you. Also worth carrying some wide and extra long zip ties (zip tided to a fork leg) as the option after that.

Hand out for a star emoji

I’m not ducking the question, as it’s quite obvious. Look at how the 790 is marketed and who will be buying it, then look at the 1290S, and what people buy it for. The answer is right there. I know you’re trying to be funny/ clever, but it’s not working.

You say you could have this bike as an only bike, but you clearly won’t, as it won’t do everything you want. If it did, KTM would be shooting themselves in the foot, and wouldn’t sell another 1290.

If this bike genuinely is only bike material, stick your money where your mouth is, and sell all your other bikes tomorrow.;)

You are totally ducking the question and I’m not trying to be funny .
It’s got nothing to do with marketing . I’m simply asking you what you see in the 1290 that you don’t see in the 790 and you can’t answer so just deflect with combative replies.

Just like you’re avoiding my comment about selling your other bikes. Why do you need the other bikes now? Genuine question.
