2018 KTM 790 Adventure

This new Krate fits perfectly on the 790 rack.
Love Giant Loop.

Sadly that’s only available for the 1090 ....;)

I don’t know but you’ll struggle to even get one over here , most dealers seem to have sold all their allocation for the year already from what I’ve been told.

Called in at a dealership yesterday, they had 7 in stock

... the Metal Mule hoops are the same 245x350mm size as Touratech so it might be possible to hang the MM panniers onto KTM's 790 frames. I will see if I can find out the widths of the KTM/Touratech panniers when fitted on the 790, and the width of the frame so I can work out how wide the MM panniers would be on KTM frames.

The KTM/TouraTech panniers (45 + 31 litres) measures 106 cm.

This is way over the Bumot panniers
35/31 92cm
40/36 98cm
45/41 104cm.

The KTM/Touratech pannier rails measure 55 cm, so I reckon hanging my Metal Mule 38+31 litres would be 101 cm.

KTM design a bike around a Denali Sound Bomb!

Even the contours match the bash plate

Remove the stock peep peep and guess what, the bracket is perfect for the Denali. As far as I can see so far the stock cables work OKAY on the compressor without a fault on the dash - this doesn’t happen on a BMW!

Nice. One of the first enhancements I make to every bike.

Well you’ll need to know where I’ve fitted the compressor. One option was to remove the charcoal canister but I won’t do that just yet. So I’ve sited it under the seat on top of the air filter lid, drilled two small holes for cable ties and cut a rubber mat to sit it on. You need to grind the bolt holder off the compressor. Goes without saying to keep the cable/hose off the engine. Hose was exactly the right length to the mm! See pics:

...how do they sound with a big dob of Clay/Turf/Peat on top of them - is that not in the crud catching area? I think the sweet lamb bods have fitted there own purpose made crud catchers there

That’s a great idea. My concern would be why KTM haven’t fitted one from the off as the bolt holes are clearly there for the purpose. Just need some captivated nuts fixing to the aluminium plate and 4 knurl head bolts with o-rings (so they don’t vibrate loose) to make it easily removable for cleaning.

I’d want to be sure that heat from the manifold wasn’t unexpectedly causing a hot fuel issue or something else before fitting one. That said, I think some heat wrap on the manifold pipes would sort that wouldn’t it - though KTM wouldn’t send a bike out wrapped would they.

Don’t worry about the Denali being too quiet!

Just to say that using the stock cables for the Denali isn’t the way to go. You need to fit a relay, as normal. Worth a try though

That’s added 5bhp!!!
.........

Why?

That doesn't look a good idea to me.

There's surely a reason why that area is left uncovered by KTM; some very hot bits needing some (lots of) cooling air ie the exhausts and the oil cooler right next to each other. I'd be very worried that oil cooler will no longer be a 'cooler'.............

Ah but if he fits an air horn........:D

Tried it today and temperature runs same as before...

Like I've said, probs the best option all round is to fit a guard like that after wrapping the exhaust manifolds.
