I've decided.

I REALLY hope this bike is shite.

I hope it's shite because it could well be my perfect bike.

I hope it's shite because if it's not shite I will want to buy one.

I hope it's shite because I love my 1190R, I mean really love it.

But.

If this bike isn't shite then I might want it more than my 1190R.

But I love my 1190R and don't want to sell it (which I would have to if I wanted the 790).

I really hope the 790 is shite.

Andres

Are you fucking kidding? You’d better be joking!

94hp is a figure I converted from the KTM published 70Kw.

...and I rounded it up :)

Should have put tubeless rims on it though.

I'm pretty sure they ARE tubeless.

Both bikes have the same wheels and both have tyres specified on KTM's site which are tubeless varieties.

I love the idea of having the R's better suspension, but I will need a step ladder to get on the bloody thing.
880mm seat height is 10mm higher than my SAS with its comfort seat, and that's plenty high enough.

Going to have to sit on both at the NEC and see which one I fit best...

*Only* 94hp :(

95 BHP in a bike that's 209Kg fully fuelled seems OK to me?
I know it's a bit down on the 1090 (30BHP more and only 21KGs heavier) but look at the competition;

  • Tiger 800 is same BHP as 790 and nearly 15KG heavier, and that bike has enough go for most IMHO.
  • GS850ADV is also same HP as KTM and weighs a whopping 35KGs more.
  • Africa Twin DCT, same BHP 34KGs heavier

The outgoing 1200GS is 30BHP higher than the 790 but weighs 35KG more - wonder what a back-to-back test of those two would reveal...

Pay more for fuel range!

Oh.....YES!

I love the way the fuel tank gives protection to the generator and clutch covers. I reckon the lower body weather protection will be pretty good too. It's heavier than I would've liked though. I hear there's cruise and a blipper available....rude not to :green gri
