2018 KTM 790 Adventure

anyone else having the steaming up clocks issue...mine have been replaced already and the second set is worse and they have never been wet.....no idea how there getting moisture inside

If there's a bad seal, expanding air escapes as the dash heats up. Then as it cools it pulls air in. Any moisture in that air gets stuck inside the dash. It doesn't necessarily happen when washing the bike.

theres no superseded part for it...so its just swap it out for same part.....dealer hopes there is a fix soon

1190 dashes can suffer a little from misting. Not much, but KTM never fixed it in all the years that dash was used. IME KTM never actually fix anything, that's the customers job.

Went to look at the 790 on Saturday.

What a crap looking bike - won’t be getting one of those.

Tank wider than pegs, clocks misting up - KTM shite

Go get yourself an 850 GSA then . That’s a gorgeous bike . They even do it in grey , just for you :-)

I actually really like the look now..wasn't sure at the start

I've got one of these for a couple of days..............

<a href="https://andressotoscastello.smugmug.com/UkGSer/n-5CFLKf/i-5DwBh2Q/A"><img src="https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-5DwBh2Q/0/324586c6/XL/i-5DwBh2Q-XL.jpg" alt=""></a>

Initial (sketchy) impression after a massive 5 mile ride home, compared to my 1190R:

Steering/handling ~ surprisingly slower steering and more planted on the road. Quickly get used to it.

Riding position ~ Lovely, comfy and very low, imagine it'd be very confidence inspiring off road in gnarley stuff.

Brakes ~ Much more initial bite and feel just as powerful.

Engine ~ Lovely at chugging low down and will rev it's bollox off :) A bit anodyne and lacking in character though.

Suspension ~ Feels like a firm road bike, quite harsh and unsophisticated feeling and doesn't even come close to the plush ride and control of my bike.

I'll update once I've some proper miles on her.

Andres

Not ridden the standard bike but everybody says the suspension on the R is in a different league. Have fun .

I don't think the S suspension is rubbish by any means. But having ridden both, the R suspension is in a different league - when set up properly that is. It wasn't great when it left the shop but is easily tuned to suit preferences, whereas the S can't give you that.

Once your hole is drilled, you insert an Allen key (4mm I think) up through the hole and unscrew the nut holding the baffle in shown here (screwed back in for safe keeping )

Then you simply pull out baffle through end of exhaust with pliers. My mate’s came straight out but mine was tight. To dislodge simply tap firmly with a hammer inwards ,using something a similar width to the baffle to dislodge it.Then it should pull out.

Does the baffle contain a spark arrestor screen within it? I ask because the picture of the muffler with the baffle removed doesn't appear to show any spark screen remaining. Or does the catalytic converter serve as the spark arrestor?
