Looks better with the riders seat set on the high position, less in and more on :thumb2
Promo videos are shit.
Must admit though it looks much nicer in the photo posted by Shedracer.
Are the 1290 S and R to stay and this more of a eplacement for the old SA T , looks more like that than current models.
So Ducati get a V4 and we ( KTM fanboy ) get same power figures , low slung fuel cells , and " Overtake assist control " whats that all about ?
It might have the Radar cruise thingy but it does'nt have the blind spot technology that the Multi has in the mirrors and I know which one would be of more use , IMO.
Look forward to some of the journalists letting us know what they think when ridden as only a few vids available .
The MCN price comparison of 5K delta a bit confusing ?

Arsey thats pure bike porn that 950 , Andres, they still had two left when you brought your 1190 R in 2013 ???

Glad I still got my 990 and 1190 1290R gone :)

..........

Mine's a 2014 (bought in Feb IIRC? from Leisuretrail) and yes, an orange one and two blue ones. I can't remember the price now but something like £8.5k (my 1190R was £14k)......I was very tempted!

Yeah but mine was the 950S with lovely carbs. Those 990s were horrid.
I wish now that I’d bought a crate of 950s !!!
In 2008 KTM did a special deal on both the 950 Super Enduro and 950 SuperMoto. They lopped about £2k off the price and from memory they were £7200 OTR in UK and £5300 for me without VAT.
That’s what I paid for my 950 Super Enduro- £5300 FFS !!!!
Should have bought a few and stuck them in storage !!

Two Blue ones as well. I could just imagine you in the dealers that day

Hingsight, its a wonderfull thing :)

This is definitely growing on me.

I kept my 2014 GSA and bought the 1290 off here - I loved the GSA and didn't want to be out of the fryer and into the fire. But every time I went to the garage I didn't take the GSA. The 1290 was just more exciting and engaging to ride, so the GSA got sold. My ownership experience has been great. The 1290 is like a giant supermoto that's also an amazing one/two up tourer that's been all-day comfortable in a way I've never experienced before.

That's what you'll get from the new 2021. I'm sure of it. Giant touring supermoto fun. The GSA is a great bike, but for me it's had it's day and needs to move on now ( I know I know...they're still selling millions n millions....but not to people like me). I'm in mid-life zone and don't want an ocean going cruiser, I want a jet ski :D The Multistrada is the fly in the ointment. It sounds like the better bike on paper and it probably ought to be the better bike. But if I were a betting man I'd say that although the Multi is, in fact, the better bike, the KTM will end up being more fun to ride - and isn't that what it's all about? Guess we'll see one day.

The MTS will probably be too revvy for me, my days of spanking bikes into the the tens of thousands of RPM's are gone, I can't even be bothered to wait until 5,000rpm for somethig to happen, if it ain't trying to wheelie at 3,000rpm it just wont work for me even in the UK, stick the Ducati and the KTM on a decent mountain road and the Ducati rider will never see which way the KTM went...

...Although the press will have it the other way around as they seem to think a run up a drag strip is the best way to test "performance"

Been focusing on the orange version. The black/grey one is actually the better looking bike. Nutty likes black :augie

Where is Nutty? Thought he would have been all over this?

KTM vs MULTISTRADA

No rear radar/blind spot.
No Nav on screen.
Shorter warranty.
More servicing.
Huge exhaust.
Looks.
Heated seats Inc??

Imagine there's some discount to be had but it's not £15k and the price shown has zero luggage Inc.

Edit: £19,276 Inc side cases/rack.

That tank must give a very useful lowering of the centre of gravity, but probably an even bigger PITA to get off than the old one. 3 piece now.

.........or just buy the bike with quickshifter and heated grips for £15,522.52 and in my case wait until they knock off £3k by which time Holan will be doing the side racks to fit my existing panniers :D

Some more pics stripped down etc
,,,,,,,,,]

I'd love to see a vid of them strippings it that far and how long it took. They'd probably have to do it in 'time lapse'.........

Interesting to see they now fit the insulated rear pipe and in the marketing blurb they are very keen to talk about how the rider's leg are kept cool via the new rads and air deflectors. I wonder how successful they have been?

Too be fair the current 1290 SAS is better in that respect than the 1190 was - hopefully they have not gone backwards and also look to have an easily accessible air filter which will be a big plus :thumb
