2024 Himalayan 450

For a mixture of on-road and some light off-off road (ie not outright gnarly mountainsides) is there anything particularly wrong with the CEAT tyres?

Probably not but taking mine off road in Picos and some trails gnarlyerer

Nice 70 odd mile ride. Handling and road holding very good with suspension firm but compliant. Either there's very few pot holes on the road or the suspension soaked them up. Nice sound from the exhaust and, as running in, very little chance of heroics! 80 plus mpg on the dash. Only demerit so far ( and I thought it would be so having test ridden one) is a very firm seat. Even with the trusty sheepskin.

I tried the nav system when I got home. No joy. Time to hit t'internet.

Coming in here at 11th hour on page 17………..Anyway, I don’t get the whole Enfield thing?! There’s so many better budget bikes. Suzuki V Storm 650 as one…….or even Mrs 650’s Vespa Super Sport 300!! lol
Can’t say much about latest models, but I hired one in Anjuna Beach, Goa almost 20 years ago and was underwhelmed. Think it was a 350 or even 250. Can’t remember, but remember it was crap. And terrifying to ride in Indian traffic!!
Quality control is completely non existent in India!! Health and safety is optional too.
Also remember buying a 6 pack of Lacoste polos………and not one was the same size ffs!!
India and China are good for takeaway food, but that’s about it!! 🤣🤣

Someone from Yorkshire would expect a slap up dinner for that….. and change!
The dealers are cut from the same cloth, got my order form through today, I thought it was 6250 for kamo, they've added a sneaky £49 admin fee, im paying over list!! I suppose it serves me right for asking for a discount on heated grips.

Ride a modern one, an experience on a Bullet 20 years ago and any one of today's line ups will be night & day, honestly 👍

Yeah, I concede that point.
Plus 450cc is all you need for loose gravel etc.
AMR in Glasgow have - I’ll take a look 👍

Can’t say much about latest models..

You don’t get them or the whole Enfield thing. You told us that in line one. This is possibly because you last rode one in or around 2005.

Go and try the 450 and see what you make of it. Then you’ll have something to say.

:beerjug:

PS Very few of the Royal Enfields bought in the UK will ever go anywhere near traffic in India. About the closet they’ll get is Southall.

£49 for what ?
The pleasure of selling one to you ?

Hats off to the bloke for remembering something from 20 or more years ago. Most here can’t remember what they had for breakfast.
I can’t remember things 5 minutes ago either. It’s the short-term memory that goes first 😬

Behave JB! This is the RE section after all. Plus there's a new bike and there's bound to be some enthusiasm and interest from folk who've decided to take the plunge. Saying that, those of us who've had an RE previously will be aware of some of the downsides : the weight, the variable quality control etc. You take that as read with a bike at that price. The new one does represent a big step forward though. Let's see how it shapes up over the months to come ...

Maybe my point wasn’t clear.
I kinda wrote them off after riding donkeys ago. Similar to the way I dismissed Honda after riding a Super Dream! Lol
I give every marque a fair trial then move on.
Same as restaurants on the high street. Problem is, there’s simply too much choice with everything nowadays and we simply don’t have enough birthdays to try everything!
The resurgence of interest on this platform was what really sparked my interest. Most of you Rolex wearing, business class flying don’t strike me as a group that like slumming it!! 🤣
I’ll try the damn thing 😜

Good luck with your new bike
