2024 Himalayan 450

It looks a great bike and Itchy seems to be enjoying it from the 2 episodes I've seen so far. I suspect it'll sell faster than they can build them but if they want even more sales, they'll bring out a larger engined version. Say a 700cc, same sort of spec as this, priced well. The 2 models would cover a fair chunk of the market.

Are you Boxerlust’s UK cousin ?

Stunning in black . Ok in white . There’s also a grey

Goan goan Arsey, you need an RE in your life, you won't be disappointed 😉

Can't remember that, what model?

Only a few months old and died on me . Recovered by dealer . It started fine next day and they never found the issue so I got rid of it. Shame as was a nice plodder.

I might suspect it was something as simple as the cheap relays and plugs they use. Swap them for something decent.

An interesting, and sometimes amusing, perspective from Nathan on this one:

He’s been a big fan of them for a while now, so this is a bit unexpected.

I still think it will be a cracking B-lane bike, and Mr Postie will end up with one in his fleet (eventually)

This is a screenshot from the video in the opening post. It looks, if nothing else, very similar to the BMW Connected app’s look, which I believe (though I coukd be wrong) is based on a TomTom system. It is not possible to tell from the video whether this is a simple A to B route (pretty easy to do in mountains, where there is only one road from A to B) or a bespoke route.

Only using Google Maps so it can follow a route from Google Maps but not from a bespoke route via a GPX file. Still impressive though .

Will have to try one . Would be a fun cheap bike to fuck around Brittany on . Could also see myself riding the tracks in the Picos on one . In black and yellow obviously

Does explain why Noraly (Itchy Boots) had turned it off in one of her first 450 Hime Videos. She did not mentioned it (naturally) but strongly suspect that this was the reason.

I have had this thread edited to move the very good debate over Google and Google Maps into the GPS section.

Anyone who was following the debate or wants to pick up on it, can do it here:

Carry on……

I have a pretty good relationship with Bacons, the Kawasaki / Royal Enfield dealership in the eastern edge of London. Now that my Achilles is mended, I will be riding my Himalayan up there to have a fault in the spark plug lead addressed under warranty. I’ll try to arrange a full day out on the new bike. If I can, I’ll post my musings here.

Good news regarding your Achilles. Hope the bike sampling goes well and as expected.
