2024 XSR 900 GP

And here we have the ultimate review

I think the best i could say about that was; it was'nt a regained youth nostalgia trip for him because he was'nt involved the first time around; for that reason he comes over genuine towards this bike ; (y)

I was in CMC yesterday checking out the"they look better in the flesh comment and although nice i preferred the standard one;

But you’ve posted a pic of an MT09 ?
Great comparison

Did you mean the standard XSR ?

No; there was no XSR in the shop to make a comparison; i saw the standard Mto9 demo bike outside withe the hand guard's ; seat; and rack and preferred it to the GP; i have use of my lads Mt so have some idea of what they are about; that does'nt mean to say there's owt wrong with the GP; just my preference;; that engine would save the day on any of the model's because they have'nt pissed about with it to match which ever clothes it happens to be wearing;; i'am looking forward your big write up Arsey. You’re right, but he’s a biker(if even that) from the new generation and little in common with most of us old goats. I for one struggle to relate. He lost me soon as he poo-poohed the tail end!!
Modern bike journalists are way too vanilla……..bring back the likes of Ronnie Smith (RIP) etc. That’s the era I proudly live in.
I like most love this bike, but simply can’t see where it fits into my life. Won’t stop me drooling over it though.

Mines due next week

'suit a larger rider'. i have to admit i think they look class (almost as nice as my much more uncomfortable Paul Smart!).

Barry

It looks complete with fairing lowers on. (I had an FZ750 in the late 80s with the top half fairing as standard, way better with the full fairing)

My fairing lowers due next month . Full Akra is at dealer waiting to be fitted .

Bike now due next week . I’ll be in Germany/Austria but it should hopefully be ready to collect , partly farkled when I get back .

Just been to my local Yamaha dealer having been waiting patiently to see one since I first saw some pics. way back when it was announced. Looks even better 'in the metal', especially the half faired version. (My only mods would be the tail tidy and tank grips. £2k for 1/2 an exhaust system, I think not).
My first 'big' bike was a Yamaha in the late 70's. Followed by a few other Japanese bikes but it's been Ducati all the way for the last 30+ years, with the occasional airhead GS and, lately, a Guzzi or two. I've only ever owned singles and twins. If the test ride lives up to the hype and the looks the XSR GP might well be the machine that changes all that

There’s only one version .
The fairing lowers are an option .
And the Akra is a full system .

I know. Semantics
And the Akra is a full system .
Went back to look at some pics and, my oversight, you are absolutely correct - hadn't spotted the downpipes. Makes it better value but still way too rich for my tastes. I'll be interested to see how much Akra want when not supplied via Yamaha. Personally, if I wanted to change, I'd be looking for something from Zard, SC Project and the like. Either way, will only be an improvment on the looks of the standard system
