2025 1390 Superduke GT

‘Could’ be perfect…IF…
Reliable, sag can be set, and a wide enough choice of suspension settings. Did I mention reliable?
My 1290r dropped a valve, soon after first service. Sorted, but KTM assist in France were diabolic.
Last week, a flat battery and none start. Ok, it happens. But finding that the seat release has decided also not to work, the seat lock comes lose…and then the key (fob thing) falling apart in your hand..? Not a top experience.
Fantastic bike to ride. One of the best I have owned and I have had many. “Ready to race”..? Me, happy with “ready to start and keep going..”.
They MUST sort out the quality of product and service.

I like it and could see me leaving BMW for one of these.

The only thing that worries me is reliability. I do a lot of miles and a couple of big tours every year. I need something I can trust. This will probably stop me from having a KTM.

I'd love another GT but , first 50 mile ride home I had a coolant leak, ok it was just a clip that was loose, then several times bike decided to go into limp mode or the screen went completely blank but still fired uk.
Sorted with a little rest / overnight in my garage . Sounded great with the wings exhaust though :D

They are mostly reliable, probably no worse than a BMW, Ducati or Triumph these days, especially the big V-Twins - same probably cannot be said for the cam eating twins.

Did @25k on my 1190 / 16k on my 1290 and 10k on a 1090 and no major issues (couple of minor error resets and 2 fuel senders) mate clocked 70k on an 1190 with just a fuel sender and rear brake master cylinder IIRC. Another mate had water leak on 2022 1290 (they all do that sir) as he left the dealer, but since then has put about 15k on it.

Electrical niggles seem most common, rarely stop you, but can be frustrating, and KTM will tell you to fuck-off if your warranty expired 3 seconds ago, but apart from that not too bad....

...obviously new model increases chances of 1st year issues, but at least it is based upon last years Superduke Naked and I have not heard much bad about them, although with last years bike sales they probably only flogged 3 of them.
