2025 KTM 390 Adventure

I spose another good reason for the older bikes - I really don’t mind chucking mine at the scenery.

I've emailed these guys in India - all this for £210 if I've converted it correctly.

I could order double quantity @Eastmidsbiker ?? Assuming they'll send to the UK, which website doesn't list.

Looks like some of this gear is on eBay shipped from them in India for 5X the price. Shame.

Thanks @Apex , I think I'm going down the route of a small number of specifically targetted accessories, for example a frame mounted bashguard (either Outback Mototek or the KTM one), Barkbusters and for luggage I've decided to invest in a set of Mosko Reckless bags with the Gnoblin mount on the tail. I've just put my doubletake mirrors on which I took off my Tiger and they fitted perfectly.

My list is:
  • Heated grips - KTM for integration
  • Barkbusters
  • Mosko Reckless 40ltr luggage
  • Cruise control (no rush for this)
  • Bash plate (KTM)
  • Bash plate engine extension (KTM)
  • Tool kits for tyre change including tube, bead breaker and spoons.
I've also just got this from Motion Pro. Can't believe how light it is (forged aluminium), which is rated for 122nm (the rear is 100nm).

I'd also love to find the limits of the suspension and then go for the Xplor upgrade, but maybe I'll leave that for a year and see if the 690 Rally appears.

What a playful bike this is on lanes, I guess thats what dropping 50KG does for you. 🤷‍♂️

In theory, this should mean I don't need a centre stand.... I was converting a crutch I picked up free but it just wasnt stable enough. Seems pretty good value at £25 although not the lightest thing.

Mosko reckless luggage also ordered, along with a KTM bashplate and heated grips (not due until November).

Did a few more lanes today, much less stress than the heavier Tiger on lanes, its a joy so far. Need to get the tyres changed though.

My mate ordered one of these a few months ago and paid a £500 deposit , refundable if he didn’t like it in the flesh when it actually arrived.

Duly got the call and went to collect the bike but when he sat on it he found he could barely operate the rear brake or gear lever without articulating his ankles to the full extent. He’s not arthritic nor is he particularly tall (5’11” maybe 6’) . He was also disappointed with the actual physical (too small) size of the bike.
Got his deposit back with no problem as the dealer has a long reserve list of punters waiting.

I would've bought it and sold it for more :thumb

Great day out on the lanes today, found some new ones I hadn't tried before. The two I'm with are Himalayan riders, one ex motocrosser and the other chap a trials rider so they can shift surprisingly well. No issues other than a couple of stalls, hopefully I'm getting some knobblies on it tomorrow when it's serviced as it was quite slippy out today.

The bike feels great on byways, much less jeapordy than running a bigger adventure bike and feels very playful. Need to use the clutch quite a bit in slow stuff, so I may consider one of the devices to chuck a bit more fuel in once its run in and got some miles on it (Coober for FuelX).

Mosko moto luggage has arrived today, so will try and get that on it this week.

FIrst service now completed by Judd Racing in Notts, it looks like they are super busy with the demise of Gear4 and Redline but offered a great service. I also asked them to fit some nice Mitas knobblies (Mitas Enduro Trail XT+) with some Michelin re-enforced tubes which should help a little with the slippiness I felt yesterday on the lanes. I've also test fitted the Mosko Reckless 40 as a more permanent luggage solution. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow ! I can now take some extra layers and my tea making stuff with me now along with the usual tools.

Another day out on the lanes, 5 bikes including an Africa twin, 2 Himalayan 411's and a Beta Alp. The 390 managed the lanes really well, but it's not a hardcore offroad bike. I'd put it somewhere between a CRF300 and a Kove450, and it's a delight on road. The suspension seems quite soft as I'm using virtually all the front travel, but havent felt the bike bottoming out yet despite some small jumps.

Two coffee and snack stops, the first at Monyash, the second at Cafe 19.

A lot of lanes I've done before, but a few I hadn't, its nice when someone else is planning the route. Mosko luggage fits fine on the bike and so handy, although I'll wash the bike later and seem how much it's scuffed the bodywork as no rack at the moment. All in all very happy with the bike and looking forward to getting some miles on it.

I've bought some Amazon fake carbon stick on sheet. Going to fit some to the vulnerable luggage areas. Then it can be replaced and/or removed once done with the bike. I'll always have some luggage fitted so...

Whats the road noise like on those tyres?
That front reminds me of the MT21

I don't notice it if I'm honest, but mostly wear earplugs. You sacrifice a little in on-road handling but I find them pretty good.

WP Xplor suspension upgrate https://www.visordown.com/news/wp-suspension-adds-new-parts-2025-ktm-390-enduro-r-and-adventure-r :care.

I was out on the lanes in the Peaks this afternoon doing a route from the 'Lost on the Lanes' Youtube duo/trio, most lanes I knew, but wanted a solo ride not too technical just gaining more familiarity with the bike. I'm up to about 1200 miles now.

Loving the lack of stress riding this bike, its just so easy especially with the tyre upgrade. The tyres felt a bit twitchy initially but have bedded in nicely now and feel great.

First 'problem' identified, I think there is an issue with the traction control, as once its triggered it seems to switch itself off, putting the light on the dash as a warning. Can't say I'm bothered with not having TC on a bike with this level of power, but will get the dealer to have a look at it at some point.

I'm out with the Himalayan gang in Derbyshire tomorrow as am off this week, looking forward to it as the weather has been lovely today and should still be nice tomorrow.
