I have a some holiday time coming up and at a loose end... and completely flexible, I just want to :tarka
I live in Ayrshire and ride a 2015 GSA. I aint no knee slider, nor am I a Steady Eddy. I am an Ex dirt biker that still likes to get up on the pegs even if doing 70mph through the twisty bits, I just cant help it lol.
Ideally I would like to ride the Scottish500 but maybe extend it a bit?
I am seeking riders that would be up for a trip on 18th July for up to 7 nights, anywhere, even overseas!

Maybe this:

I agree....I'd miss out Aviemore, I'd go Pitlochry, across to A93, up to Crathie, Gairnshiel, Cockbridge, Lecht, Tomintoul, Granton, Cawdor, Inverness.

By the way...looking forward to seeing you up on the pegs at 70 through the 'twisties'......

WEATHER

I'd planned something similar so im interested but wouldnt committ till nearer the time, im in the fortunate position of being able to go whenever the weathers best, so i'm a maybe? :beerjug:

1100 miles would make that a nice wee 4 day tour. If you're going to take longer, go over to the Isle of Mull and ride some of its great wee roads and maybe down the Mull of Kintyre to Campbeltown as well. :nenau

It looks a decent route but do take in Dunnet head & Duncansby head much nicer than the 'must do' JoG.
A trip onto Skye & the Cullins if time allows.
Enjoy

Aye Phil, they are just up the road from the Grotes so no biggy to add in...
Pablo1...nice position to be in. Heres  to the good weather :P

Im on a mac and can't open this file. How do I open it ?

Have you got Basecamp installed? If so, click on the link which will download the file. Double click on the downloaded file and it'll open Basecamp. You should then find the file in the menu on the top left of the Basecamp screen. Click on it to open. You'll only get the correct route if you've got the same version of City Navigator installed as the one that Zedos66 used to create the route. Using CN 2015.2, I just get straight lines between the waypoints.

HTH

It appears that I have not created the map properly and I too am getting straight lines.
Hang fire and I will update with proper GPX file...

Does it not need to be recalculated I thought the gpx file was simply the waypoints, double click on one of the lines, opens route list, bottom right should have recalc button.

FWIW I think your original plan and route in your first post were better

Brodick and Campbeltown :barf

Almost time to go...
I will be at Parks East Kilbride first thing Monday 20th to have a wee fettle to my bike, then heading off...I expect approx 9:30am.
Happy to meet up with whoever wherever and whenever along the route...
There is no plan for overnighters...simply nomadic and no pressures to get anywhere by a certain time etc...
Post here or PM
BTW...I think maybe I will cut the arran and kintyre bit ;-)
