I am building up a 21" wheel for the lardy GSA.

Can anyone advise on best rim size, I have done some research and it seems the radical option is a 1.60 x 21 and to fit MotoX oriented tyres (I read the fast HP2 works guys used to do this for extrema enduros), but probably the sensible option is to copy the standard HP2 1.85 x 21".

For the rest of the BBRC I am thinking of a softish front tyre and a harder rear. MT21 front and Michelin Desert rear. My half worn TKCs were fine at the Sweet Lamb sprint.

Thinking of using the tubeless conversion kit http://www.kprservices.co.uk/tubliss.htm but if not do you think I need two rim locks?

If anyone else has a view let me know...

Tnx, Mike

Yep I damn nearly bought Timolgra's wheel, and I already read the thread with interest.

Still keen on advice 1.60 v's 1.85 and tyre choice, TKCs don't work for me - at least in their 19" variant. Hence the move to get a better choice of rubber and the other benefits of 21" fronts.

Or do the logical thing and just buy a KTM!

Here's the recipient if you're interested...

Remember the 21" TKC is a bit more aggressive than the 19".

One reason why I went for the narrower rim is the same reason it was also changed on my 640KTM. (Standard, wide, KTM LC4/LC8 rims are notoriously weak).
The narrower rim allows the tyres to deform around it, so less likely to have a compression puncture or ding the rim. With the weight of a GS I'd also be wanting tyre with a strong sidewall for serious offroading.

Saying that, the HP2 wheels seems plenty tough enough.

EDIT: Don't forget you'll also need to sort the front mudguard.........or just buy a KTM:D

All the bits are ordered. 1.6 rim (or WM1 in old money) for the front.
2.00 for the back. So as off road as you can get.

Will they be ready for the K2? Doubt it sadly.
