well here we go, ready to sell a major organ to get this big service done.
Now, not having a clue about what they are going to do can anyone enlighten me? Also how much should I expect to pay?

and why if the kids in scooby doo are always scared of 'mr jenkins' who dressed up as a demon/ghost/dead pirate do they think that it is perfectly normal to have a conversation with a dog?

I have an 1150gs. 2.5 years old.

Main thing they do at 24K is to change the fuel filter. It would be a good idea to take the bike in with as little fuel as possible.

It might be worth asking them to change the poly V belt too. Although this isn't due until the 36k service, a number of people have had them go before that, myself included. The belt is only about £10 so it won't break the bank.

Apart from that, its the same as the 12k service.

I had my 24K service done two weeks ago . It included fuel filter change, new rear pads and a strip-down and cleanup of the front brakes to fix a siezed pin.

Total cost £347 including VAT.

Breakdown of major costs exc VAT:

Service labour - £113
Fuel filter labour - £33
Fuel filter - £1
Service kit - £26
Oil - £25

Pads & front-pin labour - £36
Pads - £36
Pad pin - £9

Mike - the calipers should come off and the pads & pins cleaned up as part of the service cost - not an extra - at every service. I'd dispute that bit, TBH...

Thanks. I will query it. What happened (they said) was that one of the caliper pins was completely siezed and had to be replaced.

The bike is going in on Friday for a lot of rusty bits to be replaced under warranty so I'll bring it up with them.

Indeed

If they are taking out pads to clean calipers, the pin naturally comes out as well, and is cleaned.

That's how they found out you needed new rears.

thanks for all the help. they have quoted me about 250.00. the service guy was surprised as he thought that the v belt was replaced. following your comments here I will ask him to replace it as well.

I wouldn't complain too hard, the fuel filter should be £11.32 plus VAT and the Service Kit is £28.68 plus VAT.
