Bonjour all,

Well the 800 is well out of warranty and it's past it's 24k service mark... just.

Can someone tell me (or better yet, show me a list) of things that are done on the 24k service. I should be able to do the easy stuff myself.

I was contemplating getting this service done at BMW, as there is a little bit of oil seeping out of a seal in the top of the engine (I think), BMW told me this at last service, probably a gasket or seal but oil has been kept up to the mark so all should be well.

Cheers :-)

Almost certainly the rocker cover gasket. This has given a few on here some problems. I think it's more to do with sealant than the gasket.

Sorry, no info for service schedule, but it's probably on here somewhere.

Oh Bonsoir,

As Leg End states most have had the leak (including mine) and they fix with the squirty stuff :thumb2

mine is at 23K so this interests me I will have to go main Dealer as i have extended Warranty so Just phoned vines for a how much and a what do they do.

they check for fault codes, change oil and filter, check valve clearance (if work is needed here they call you) change the spark plug (I will fit an iridium which they do not carry so supply for them more fuel efficient, lean burn good for 45000k :blagblah) chainge air filter, check coolant, clutch play, check front and rear brakes and brake cables, hoses, visual inspection of tyres, wear, tread, pressure also head stock bearing checked and adjusted if required :blagblah, road test. thats roughly it unless others no different

All for the princely sum of parts, Labour and including VAT = £329.24

Hope it helps :beerjug:

Hi Puma

If you want yours doing give me a shout as I have done a few and happy to do it for a few beer tokens whilst you watch and possibly learn..

There are a few on here that have been brave enough to let me play with their bike and I have done the rocker cover gasket on mine at the last service.

Regards

Mark

Hi Mark,

First off thank you for your kind Offer :thumb2

thing is though I'm obligated to BMW as per the letter of there extended warranty and Recovery (which of course in an Insurance policy)

But the plan is once the warranty expires I will not renew it next Year and will carry out a lot of the service work my self which i'm looking forward too :D as my bike is a keeper :D

if I get stuck I have a good friend to point the way and get me out of things I can not do !

Over the next few months i'm on the look out for a decent air compressor as a usefull tool and one of thoes pedestals not so important (ramp) but all in good time and money :D
