Need to use my GPSR today so hooked it up last night and no power.

I removed the slide-on connector and the bottom pin is all corroded. So I try and clean it up but because it's so fragile it just fell to bits. I keep it in the little storage holder on my TT bar mount so it is exposed to the elements a bit.

Had to order another but I thought I'd post this as I reckon there must be other cases of this around. I've got around it for the minute by using the car lead until my new one arrives.

Funny but when I saw Charley Boormans bike I noticed that he had the same mount but had his connector taped up and not in the holder thing, I wonder if it is a general problem.

I'm going to leave the clear plastic connector on my new one when it's not in use and tuck it away somewhere.

Jon,

I've a similar problem on my NavII cable (although mine's still working, albeit after a thorough clean).

I think the problem I have is that the cable is permanently 'live'. I think I'm going to introduce a switch into the system somewhere (or maybe take the power supply off the lighting circuit). I had a similar problem with my SPIII's cable.

Mike:)

Why not just use the plastic cap that is supplied with the lead? It keeps the crap and wet out and insulates the live terminal.

I've been using the housing built into the NavII cradle to store the loose end of the cable - it wouldn't allow you to put the cover on.

The proper answer, I think, is to isolate it when not connected - just got to work out how I'm going to do that (although I still favour the idea of taking power from the light circuit).

Mike:)
