I'd really appreciate some help.

God this is tricky.

Problem 1:
When I create a route on Mapsource 7 and try and upload, the end result is a message that says my route doesn't match available maps. This is inspite of having check marked in pink the appropriate ones.

Problem 2:
When I try and enact a route it always starts at my home when the route doesn't include this. ie Calais to Nice...and it starts in flaming Hereford!

Problem 3:

I can upload a detailed map and later it appears not to be there.

Am I misunderstanding something vital?

Possible answers

1. The maps in the 2610 don't match those in the PC, eg CN Ver 6 in the 2610 and CN Ver 7 in the PC or vice versa!

2. If you want to simulate a route make sure you've selected "use indooors".

3. Don't know but that's possibly why you're getting #1 as you're asking it to follow a route on the base map. 1 and 3 will I think be fixed if you can download the maps to the data card. Trying to do it through the 2610 will take days if it's in the same timescale as a SP3.

have a look at this thread here it might help??

Well Iv';e tried some of the suggestions. Thanks guys.

The brand new 2610 that i bought comes with V7 of the software. The base map on the GPS itself does not seem to like it very much. So yes, the answer seems to be to transfer the maps over from the V7 software and then transfer routes.

I did this for France succesfully..eventually.

But when I did the same thing for the outward leg in the UK, it corrupted all that work.

One has to be very carefull about check marking the various maps. I get the feeling that if one tiny map (say a corner of N France, or a tiny piece of Kent) is missing from the route, it will throw up the same message....namely that the maps are not compatible, because for that small bit, it's reading off the old base map.

Honestly, I had no idea you needed a degree in patience to get your head round these gadgets.

There must be some very brainy GSERS out there.
